We wanted to find a self-sufficient and unexpensive way to base ourselves in the Geneva/Annecy area. We found these cabins available as part of the Camp du Belvedere, a site run by the local council. The cabins are in the trees above the main campground, with porches, handy well-stocked kitchens, and decent if firm beds. You can open the windows for cross ventilation. There is a comfortable futon sofa in the kitchen area next to a table and chairs for 4.
They have a room with bunks for children, and the bath is a shower room, so no cramped shower stall to deal with. We were able to wash some clothes and hang them on the porch.
The only down side is the occasional rental by local young people of a cabin for evening dinner parties. They can be a bit loud, but cheerful. Parking is quite nearby, but not next to each cabin. (a plus for us, but maybe not for others).More
