Philosopher’s Way is about a 20 minute hike from Aldstadt and offers a beautiful view of Heidelberg from across the river. I followed the road snaking up, and came down via the steps built between properties. Although not planned, it proved a wise choice, as it’s a long way up, and down!

We climbed up the hill during late afternoon on a cold, cloudy day. Even so the view of the city and the river was amazing. Took great photos. Highly recommended hike in Heidelberg.

Gorgeous stroll through the woods. Loved the autumnal colours , fine exercise but no good if you have any health issues as it was quite a long walk. Lovely views and photo opportunities.

nice climb, after the staircase at first, the inclination of the hill itself was not very steep. We went up at around 5pm,and when going down it was starting to get dark. This gave us a great view of the castle that was lighted on the other side of the river. I do recommend you bring a torchlight if you go at night, as the steps we took on the way down were quite dark (and uneven), although most people nowadays have a torchlight function on their phones.

Lovely walk and beautiful views of the Neckar River & Heidelberg. Not a difficult walk but well worth it.
