My friend and I booked this hotel on location primarily and on the basis that it was an excellent price. We were not disappointed with the location - fantastic views of the castles and excellent for walking into the town for lunch/dinner etc during the day. Decent sized car-park too, which was handy. We paid for breakfast which was basic but good - selection of cereals, bread, jams, cheese and ham as well as tea and coffee. The staff are all lovely and very very helpful - could not fault them at all. The hotel itself though was just average - the rooms were a good size and very clean and tidy but basic. Beds were comfy, towels were a good size. The only irritating thing was that it was very hot on the days we were there, so you had to open the window at night. This was fine for me but my friend only had a door to the balcony on her room.... and the balcony was a shared area for 4 different rooms, so she was worried she'd end up having a random visitor in the night! Otherwise, the hotel ok, not spectacular, but good for the price, hence the 3 rating.

I've been staying at his hotel every so often for over 50 years now, ever since I was a child. This is always my first choice when I bring friends or my own family to this area now.
The location is perfect - the name "castle view" pretty much sums it up. You can see the castles, and you can walk everywhere from here.
This hotel is simple, clean, and very affordable. The cost of the room includes breakfast and free parking. Just don't expect five-star service, a pool, or any other amenities that you really don't need. If you insist on an exercise room, hike up the mountains.
One thing to note is that the front desk is only open at certain hours, so if you arrive at other times, you have to wait - this may be unfamiliar to American tourists, but that's how they keep down cost. Once you're checked in, you get a key to the front door and you can come and go as you please.
I love this hotel and highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms 4 and 5; they are in the front with the best view and have a balcony.

The hotel itself is quite basic, but the room we had was large, clean and quiet. We had a balcony with a view over the countryside at the back, but the front of the hotel looks directly over Schloss Neuschwanstein! There is free, plentiful parking and you can walk to all the castles from here. The young woman manager was lovely! The hotel was very busy and she seemed to be running it single-handedly, but she was extremely helpful, seemed to speak about 4 languages and maintained her sense of humour. Breakfast was basic, but free, plentiful and fresh. Highly, highly recommend to anyone visiting the castles.

Room Tip: Front overlooks Schloss Neuschwanstein, back overlooks countryside and carpark.

Booked this primarily for price and location for a 1-night stay to visit to the Schwangau castles. It is walking to both castles, being positioned opposite the main castle parking lots. The room was a fair size, the beds were comfortable, the room was very clean and the shower was effective. The breakfast buffet wasn't extensive - just cereal and bread with cheese, meats and jam - but coffee and juice was plentiful and overall the package was great value for money. Reading some other reviews, I think people sometimes expect 5-star accommodations at a 2-star price. If you just want a comfortable room at a reasonable price, this will exceed your expectations. If you want air-con and free Wifi (or rather a hotel where the cost of wifi is built into the room rate) with a fancy breakfast buffet then go and pay double the rate or more at one of the bigger hotels. I would happily return here and recommend to friends and family.

Room was clean and nice with an amazing view of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau Castle.
Good breakfast, german style. They surprise us with a discount voucher for entry of castles. For visiting the castle, be aware, the entry it's not any time.
At the ticket office they inform you which is the time.
