Excellent museum, interesting items to see, well organized, quite big so good to predict some time before closing to visit well.

The Neues Museum was built between 1843 and 1855 according to plans by Friedrich August Stuler, a student of Karl Friedrich Schinkel. The museum is located on Museum Island in Berlin. The museum was closed at the beginning of World War II in 1939, and was heavily damaged during the bombing of Berlin. The museum was officially reopened in 2009 and has won various awards. The museum exhibits includes the Egyptian and Prehistory and Early History collections, as it did before the war. The artifacts it houses include the iconic bust of Egyptian queen Nefertiti. Overall this was a very enjoyable and relaxing visit to an interesting and fascinating museum.

Visit to Neues Museum has been on my bucket list since my visit to Egypt in 2002. Although Egyptian exhibits were not as good as in Cairo, Luxor or London (British Museum), it is definitely worth a visit just to see Nefertiti’s bust. I was spellbounded. No photography allowed in the Nefertiti room though. They do allow it to be photographed from the hallway.

We went to this museum after 4pm and it was the best decision ever. There was nearly anyone around (maybe we were just lucky) and we could explore The museum at a nice pace. The museum is gorgeous and definitely worth a visit while in Berlin specially for those who like Egyptian history.

This is currently in process of being upgraded to the whole 'Museum Island' project, so is not fully completed. However, it has some interesting artifacts, especially Egyptian - the highlight being Nefertiti's bust. Worth getting the whole Museum Island ticket and adding this on to the Pergamon visit.
