I was a little bit disappointed with the Westin Grand. It's a nice building and feels grand when you walk in. At check in, although we'd requested a double room when booking rather than a twin, they didn't have any free because it was the weekend and they were busy - which sounds fair enough but it's not a great welcome. We paid an extra fee per night to upgrade to better (non twin) room.

The room itself was nice - good size and well fitted out. It was a bit messy though - housekeeping didn't do a great job of clearing up after the last guests, bits of paper around and the complimentary bottle of water half drunk by the bed.

I'd booked a massage at the spa over email a few days previously and had it confirmed by the staff so I was annoyed to turn up to the spa to find that they hadn't actually booked it after all and had no therapist on hand. The chap on the desk was polite and apologetic but that's not really a substitute for a massage.

The lobby bar is ok. Comfortable and convenient, but expensive. The pool at the spa is ok, indoor and pleasant enough if a bit cold.

Overall it's a nice place and the staff on hand were all polite but I've come away with the feeling that it's not very well managed. Next time I come to Berlin I'll probably look for somewhere else to stay.

Dear Guest, Our first aim is the pleasant stay of our guests and we work hard for reaching that aim every day. All the more I regret that you were disappointed. Thank you for letting us know your impressions. We have evaluated them internally with the housekeeping department and also with the Spa Management. Indeed they have made a mistake with the booking; please take our sincere apology for that. We can completely understand your disappointment. We hope you will give us a second chance to convince you next time with service and of course you are invited for the massage next time. Please contact us directly; I would like to take care personally for your your reservation. The Westin Grand Berlin-Team, Andrea W.,

A very nice Asian-inspired grand hotel just in a perfect location in Berlin-Mitte. I loved the lobby, which is very cozy especially during the cold season. The hotel offers a word-class breakfast buffet, you can eat light which is a perfect start for a day in Berlin. Nice spa area with a fantastic pool. You probably will walk a lot and you want to swim off the energy of the streets. Nice rooms, take care that you will get a new one. I would like to mention the outstanding staff, very polite and friendly. They are quick, when you order room service, they beat every other hotel. I definitely will come back. The price is more than reasonable for this house.

Room Tip: Get a new room

Great hotel located about as central as you can get. The Friedrichstrasse station is just up the road and you can get everywhere from here. The Hotel is a traditional 4 star, not the fancy new ones but has the traditional values which you really appreciate. Clean, tidy, great food, great service. If you want a weekend in Berlin go here its worth it.
Superb spa as well.

Room Tip: The room we had was on the 2nd floor, and it was great, but ask for one overlooking the main street.

We just got back from a 4 day trip to Berlin. We stayed in the Westin Grand and not only is this the perfect location for busy travellers to stay it has so much to offer its guests. From the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out we were spoiled. There is a bottle of water put in your room every day to "stay hydrated" which is such a nice treat as you always want some water after walking around all day. There is an easy coffee machine to use and we asked for extra coffee pods every day and we were left with a good amount. The room was really large and the bathroom perfect and the shower was powerful and hot and my husband took a bath one night after walking 10 miles and he said it was really comfortable. My only comment about the bathroom is the towels are not very big but there were bathrobes and slippers which were very comfortable to get into afterwards. We used the pool one of the afternoons hoping to just warm our bodies after the long day trekking around in the cold and although the pool area is gorgeous the pool was actually a bit cold so we didn't stay long.
Breakfast was amazing, and anything and everything you could ever want was available as well as some fizz (we didn't have any of that) but be aware that breakfast, the full breakfast IS 32 euros and you can have the continental one for 16 euros. Yes both costly but everything was fresh and you could back and forth as many times as you wish. We thought we were having the continental as that was we ate only to find out they billed us for the 32 euro breakfast, they did take the higher charge off the account though so all was fine. They honestly could not be more welcoming or friendly and the BEST part of this hotel is the bed!! I didn't want to get out of it. Absolutely the most comfortable bed EVER!!! Loved this hotel, the location (you are literally a stones throw away from ALL the best must see's in Berlin), staff and amenities were top notch!!! Loved it!! Luxury hotel at not a very expensive price

Room Tip: ask for a city view room, you get a balcony
