Booked this place on a bit of a whim while planning my trip to Berlin.

The food here is phenomenal. New, interesting combinations (Sprouts and banana, who knew!) that are beautifully cooked and the menu is compiled so all of your senses get a little go! The menu has some particularly high points, mainly the deer massaman and that soy sauce that comes with the pikeperch. Highlight for me was actually the extra little dishes between courses. We had an apricot sorbet with a mustard merangue. This was particularly stunning, blew my mind. Food is the reason for my 5 star review.

The service people expect is very much to personal preference. I personally found our waiter a little snooty and felt there was a 'hard sell' when it came to drinks and particularly bottled water. He offered/insisted more water at least 6 times, several times he topped our glasses up so they were almost overflowing just so he could empty the bottle and try and persuade us to have another. When we said we didn't want more, he responded with a rather patronising 'well if you're sure' type response. When we saw the bill, we then knew why. I know it's standard in this caliber of restaurant to be charged a crazy amount for water but it was noticeably forced upon us and we didn't like that. But ignore that, food makes everything right.

One of my absolute favorites in Berlin! High-end cuisine with Asian influences. Been here first in 2010 and absolutely loved it. The restaurant did not change, may be only to the better. Tried their “8” menu, which was just enough, not too much, but very satisfying. One of our party was a vegetarian and the restaurant accommodated perfectly to her tastes with both the special veg menu and even separate veg treats to enjoy! Highly recommend it for a special occasion dinner!

Asian flavours with European treatment gives an interesting mixture. The experience was overall more than satisfactory, The service was friendly and efficient, prices normal for this type of cuisine.

I have been in many restaurants in my life and I will never say this is in the top50 around the world. In a 2 Michelin star restaurant you expect high prices, good service and a new experience. For us it was one expensive place without really tasty meals and awful service. Please check my pictures... Would you serve a beer like that? Priceless....

My wife and I visited Berlin and it happened to coincide with Chinese New Year. Having lived in China for a year some time ago we booked a table at Restaurant Tim Raue as a treat. We weren't disappointed.

The restaurant is just around the corner from Checkpoint Charlie and accessed through a quiet courtyard. On arrival the service was laid back and attentive.

We went for a four course lunch menu, choosing one starter, two 'mains' and one dessert. We added a lovely, fruity Gewurztraminer that went perfectly with the delicate flavours of the dishes.

Presentation of the food was of a high quality that was surpassed by the depth of flavour in the dishes themselves. The pork belly and deer massaman dishes stood out and were exceptional.

If I was being really picky then my quince dessert wasn't exactly to my taste. But it was still devoured with glee.

The service was good, and the atmosphere was casual despite the formal setting. I would highly recommend this to anybody that enjoys good Asian cuisine.
