Myself, my boyfriend and another couple stayed here for 6 nights over new year and it was perfect for what we needed.
All the staff were helpful and spoke excellent English compared to our beyond shocking German!

When we checked in we were given adjoining rooms - great! However, our room smelled like terrible drains. Back down to the front desk where without hesitation our room was switched and we were given a room a little further down the corridor to our friends, hardly the end of the world and great service, no problem what so ever.

The rooms are modern and well kept. Lovely bathroom with everything you need. We never had a problem with housekeeping or the temperature in the room.

Breakfast was a good selection and decent quality. Loved the pastries! Sometimes the chef cooking eggs seemed a little overwhelmed but it was very busy on some mornings so he can’t be blamed!

The hotel is near to the tube equivalent and the train station, we buzzed all over the city on public transport, definitely the cheapest way to get around and cheapest.

Overall I’d recommend this hotel for anyone on business or on a city break.

We stayed here for 9 nights through the Christmas and New Years holidays. Firstly, let us say that the front desk staff upon check in and at the initial part of our stay were extremely helpful and curtious. This holds especially true for Jennie, Julia and Christian. The breakfast staff were very helpful. The concierge, Etam, found us an array of dinning opertunities and was extremely knowledgeable about the city, the Christmas markets and he really went the distance for us. As for the hotel location; the hotel is located a good 20 or 30 minute walk from major sights like Checkpoint Charlie and the Brandenburg gate. There are a few restaurants within a 5 minute walking distance. The Tegel airport taxi voyage cost a little over €25. each way. The breakfast buffet had a good selection except for fruit and lack of bottled water (they only had carafes of fruit flavored water). One observation: The staff handling the bread, buns and other foods, with the exception of the chef, did not wear gloves when handling food and then switching over to cleaning surfaces with rags. The initial room we were given had no heat. It was in the minus digits that night and the room (room 308) was extremely cold. We called the front desk and a helper came up immediately with a space heater (see photo). We presumed rightly that he knew there was a heating problem since he brought the heater up with him prior to checking if the heat worked. We asked a few staff members and were informed that there was a problem with the heat in some rooms and that the hotel had purchased a bunch of space heaters to help with this. So, we did not sleep very well that night because we were terribly cold and uncomfortable. My wife had to wash her hair but didn’t dare because she was afraid of getting ill because of the cold. The next morning we told the front desk and they said that they would try to find us a room with heat and would compensate us with a free drink at the bar. Do you really think that a free drink at the bar is compensation for having no heat in the room, especially since the hotel should have checked if our room had heat prior to giving it to us. Not 4 star behavior. The next room we saw was on the fifth floor and had skylights, no heat and would have been even colder than the room we slept in the night before. We were given a room on the first floor which had heat(room 143). In fact, it was an oven. When we went to the front desk (it is a major inconvenience when you have to spend your vacation time moving looking at various rooms to see if they have hear and then moving all of your luggage around and not being able to sleep because of heating malfunctions) we were told to leave the window open and put the fan on. Somebody came to our room and opened our window with a key. So, that is how we spent the next 8 nights of our vacation with the window open beside our heads in below zero nightly temperatures until we froze then we closed the window until we boiled and then the routine would start over again. Many uncomfortable and sleeples nights. We would have checked out had we not allready paid. Then there was the issue of the excess dust (see photos) on so many of the surfaces in the room, see pictures. Then when we wanted our sheets changed we left the change the sheet card on the bed but the bed sheets were not changed. We called the desk and they sent somebody up who only wanted to change the bottom sheet, which is what he did. Every day there was something housekeeping forgot to do, especially dusting, or put in the room. Perhaps a check list would help. We had a card(see photo) proped up on the little desk in our room which said if they didn’t rate a 10 to let them know and they would fix it. We have to wonder if this was some kind of joke. One would presume that when you book a room in cold Berlin in the winter that it would indeed have heat. We travel extensively, both for work and for pleasure. We’ve had some absolutely fabulous hotel stays and some average stays and some definately not enjoyable stays. This stay was was a not a particularly enjoyable experience and was not resolved or even attempted to be adequately resolved. Ironically, upon check out we were not even asked how our stay was. We guessed they didn’t care.

The hotel is amazing! We arrived early and didn’t expect to be able to check in but our room was ready. Nice spacious room, 2 single duvets on the bed was a nice touch. The shower was unbelievable. Not too far from everything but in a quiet enough area. The food at the restaurant for dinner was so good. Would highly recommend this hotel!!

An imposing building in a good location for touring Berlin and in a quiet area where you'll avoid the noise of the city but it's a good walk to the major sights (e.g.Potsdammerplatz 15 mins, 20 mins to Checkpoint Charlie, 30 mins to Brandenburg Gate/ Alexanderplatz). That didn't bother us as we prefer to see a city by walking but it might be too far away for some although there is public transport within 10 mins walk.
BEWARE of which room you reserve. We reserved a Junior King Suite expecting Club lounge access but didn't have it so we upgraded to a King Executive but were charged extra, note that if you want Club Lounge access book an EXECUTIVE room.
We would thoroughly recommend paying for this as it included an outstanding full buffet breakfast (normally 19euros each), drinks in the Club lounge (beer, wine, coffee, tea and soft drinks) at all times and snacks (wraps, sandwiches and a small salad bar).
Extras added onto your room bill = local tax, extra person tax (1st person is free in room, anymore are charged even in a 2 bedded room!).

PLUS POINTS
Very comfy and large room
Club access
Friendly staff (outstanding were Johan on reception and Jan in Club Lounge)
Superb breakfast
Very clean

MINUS
Unclear room prices
Cold room even though heating on maximum all day
Poor soundproofing with adjoining room

Getting here
From Schonefeld Airport you can walk to S-Bahn terminal along covered walkway. Buy ticket and validate before boarding train. S45 train to Sudkreuz where you change lines onto the S2 or S25 going north and get off at Anhalter Bahnhof once outside look around and you'll be able to see the massive Crowne Plaza building on Hallesche Str, number 10
If you buy a day ticket (A,B,C districts) it will be valid for 24 hours on all public transport (about 8 Euros).

Room Tip: We stayed in 502 with Club Access. Cold room and adjoining room had a noisy alarm!

A weekend trip to Berlin in Dec for sight seeing and Christmas markets makes this a great central location. A few minutes from the station and Check Point Charlie. Our room had nice decor and good amenities, plus a bath with shower and a wet room (drainage was an issue as needs a steeper drain away). The room we had was a twin, with individual duvets folded on the bed, a side chair and limited storage, but we were only there for the weekend so fine. Breakfast has a great choice, p,is a chef on hand for omelettes, eggs of your choice and other stuff. The bar is secluded and comfortable and there is a concierge with lots of local information. The receptionists seemed to be nice and multi lingual. All in all a good choice.
