Although the address is Beerenstraße 57 the restaurant is actually on Mexicoplatz and so is easily found from the S-Bahn station of the same name.
My wife and I spend a week in Berlin every year and we always go to this restaurant at least twice. It is decorated to make you feel as if you are in a wine library and it is very cosy. The menu is extensive and the cooking is all of high quality. Their secret is using the freshest and best ingredients and cooking these simply but very well. I suffer from coeliac disease and to accommodate my need for a gluten free meal the chef will always grill some fish for me. The last time it was a whole (small) turbot - nothing is too much trouble.
If you are not well versed in Italian wines it is better to take advice from the staff.
It is true that their grasp of English is shaky but after all it is an Italian restaurant in the outer suburbs of a German city. A smattering of the local language by customers will help. In any case we have discovered that they often understand English even if they don't speak it.
If you go often you will also find out that the waiters have a very good sense of humour and like to join in with customers’ jokes - order the Zablione for desert and see what happens!
