Due to good reviews from friends we came here with high expectations even if the location isn´t very appealing at the moment since there is a construction site in front of the restaurant. The restaurant room is charming and the owner/ waiter/ chef Eric nice.
The food wasn´t very good and not a great value for the money. My tofu curry came with overcooked soft vegetables. The starters were ok.
Worst of all was one of my bottled beers which must have been open for a couple of days since it tasted very stale

This is a small creole restaurant near Franfurter Tor in East Berlin. The decor is outstanding in very bright colours with a huge fresco on the wall depicting a Caribean beach with fishermen.

Eric the owner is a very friendly guy in a laid back kind of way that is also the cook and waiter.

We had the spicy beef with a succulent side of lentils (they were out of the usual vegetables that normally come with the dish) and rice. This was outstanding, lots of flavours yet not too spicy.

The French wine by the glass was good, cheap and generously served (I've had "glasses" of wine in other restaurants that were about half the volume Madinina serves).

We also recommend the "Ti-Punch" rum mix they do.

If you plan to come in a party of 8 or more, it's best to call ahead so that owner Eric can get some outside help.
