Description: Maximilians is cosiness personified! The restaurant has impressive copper and brass pumps and rustic-style furniture. It specialises in Bavarian cuisine, offering a large selection of good hearty food such as carpaccio dumplings and meat loaf, roast potatoes, fried eggs and Reiberdatschi (potato pancakes) served with apple compote. The waiting staff who are garbed in traditional Bavarian dress are constantly on the go, looking after the clientele of tourists, locals and Bavarian émigrés. This restaurant which is situated on the river Spree celebrates the Oktoberfest in September. The restaurant offers a selection of beer and wine.

This place, although a bit "touristic", serves pretty good and large portions of German food. Also, as expected considering the central area, the price isn't cheap, but it's not too bad and the value for what you pay (taste and size wise) is good.

Stumbled upon this restaurant on our first night in Berlin... Nearly went back each night but, thought we should explore!! Love the Bavarian experience... Would be an amazing venue for a big group of friends. Partner had pork knuckle...he's now in love!! There was only one option for me for desert ... Kaiserschmarrn.... Could eat it always!! When we return to Berlin - would definitely go back.

We went there on our first evening upon arrival in Berlin. Had a goulash soup and a potato soup. Both were a little salty for our taste. We also shared a wurst which was ok. Nothing out of the ordinary.

The restaurant is located between Check Point Charlie and Gendermenmarkt. It is traditional German restaurant with nice interior Bavarian style and typical german food. Despite nice, traditional interior the food is average but the worst in the restaurant is staff. Waitress servissing us was rude and treated each customer as potential thieft. Due to very unproffesional staff I do not recommend this restaurant and I'll never go back there again.

In Berlin recently for 4 days. On second night we asked hotel reception for a bar/restaurant nearby. They suggested Maximilian’s which was 10 min walk. We were delighted with 5he atmosphere the food and the beer and stayed longer than intended which is always a good sign. Recommended.
