We were a group of three couples from Ireland on our first trip to Berlin and went for dinner to Restaurant Heising on our last night. From start to finish the meal was superb. The restaurant has been run by the Heising family for many years. It is small but very elegant. Every single course was beautiful, not a scrap was left on any of the plates. The wine list was short but excellent and very reasonably priced. The service was of the same standard as the food, efficient but unobtrusive and absolutely charming. We all agreed that it was one of the best meals we have ever had. The venison was definitely the best I have ever tasted. One of the desserts was a work of art, almost too good to eat. The bill at the end of the meal was much lower than we would pay for a meal of anything near the same quality in Dublin, very reasonable for such a fantastic meal. To round off the night, we discovered that Franziska, whose parents founded the restaurant and who with her mother served us most of our food and wine, has an Irish partner called Rory and she sat down to chat with us even though the restaurant, which was full when we arrived, had emptied out. All in all, it was a memorable meal, if we are ever back in Berlin we will book well in advance to make sure we get a table.
