I like staying in a hotel located in a building with a history. The Renaissance hotel in Hamburg is located in the old Broschek’s publishing building. Broschek published the “Hamburger Fremenblatt.” According to information the hotel provides Jack London, HG Wells, Rudyard Kipling, and GB Shaw all contributed to the paper. The hotel restraint is Broschek’s and has printing presses and job cases with type as the decoration. The Café has those “sticks” hanging there with newspapers, but when you pick one up you find it is a copy of a “Hamburger Fremenblatt” From 1900. The super graphics on the doors of the room are of stylized presses. The conference rooms are named “Editorial,” “Headline,” “Layout” and “Print.” For a newsie for me it was a perfect fit.
The room was comfortable, and the staff was helpful in arranging tours and other excursions. The restaurant served a very good breakfast.
