The place is hard to describe as it is soooo different from any restaurant I have ever been to in Hamburg. The place was originally a furniture store, specialising in furniture and deco from Morocco. When you enter you feel like your in a local market in Marrakech and everything you see is basically for sale.

Later the owners added the restaurant in the middle of the shop to serve Moroccan inspired food. The dishes are good but it is defiantly the atmosphere that makes this place so special.

As a french-german couple that has lived a few years in Morocco we had great expectations on this restaurant and invited some german friends.

The first look at the scenery pleased us. A bit like the Marrakech souk. Nice wrought iron tables (fer forgé). Curious, the rattan lampshades. But still nice.

I asked for moroccan wine (there are so many nice red wines in Morocco). The waiter said they only had spanish rioja. Too bad. We drunk the rioja. Just average.
Is it so difficult to import Moroccan wine in Hamburg ?

The first course (mezze : sounds lebanese/ turkish to me) was lebanese/ turkish, not moroccan : what about the mechouia salad, the different carrot salads... ?
How disappointing ! Still the taste was OK.

For the heart of the meal, we wanted tagines. There where very few : No candied lemon tagine, no plum tagine, no traditional tagine.
We decided not to take the curry. A cream curry in a Moroccan restaurant ! Are we sure that we did not enter in an indian restaurant ?
So we ordered the fish tagine of the day : thick cream gravy (strange !), couscous inside the sauce, salsify... (those 2 never seen in Morocco inside a tagine ! Undefinite taste.

We have eaten in so many nice moroccan outside Morocco that we would certainly not recommand this one for the food.
For the scenery it is OK, if you look for an Aladdin feeling.

A friend of mine who lives in Hamburg invited us to this restaurant. Here follows a review both on location and food.

Located into the suburbs of Hamburg it's a great surprise. In the middle of a residential yard, the location is really astonishing, a real Moroccan Riad with a beautiful courtyard surrounding the main building rich of flowers, aromatic herbs.

Inside the building everything remembers a Riad: furniture, lamps, carpets, tiles on walls, fountains, scent of mint and spices. Avery corner is different and everything is on sale. If you like a cup, a table, a tile, a lamp, a tajine you can buy it.

It's surprising how an architect could have transformed an old tram deposit into an amazing small Moroccan Village

Food is a different chapter. You are in a place where you are dreaming from the first moment, and you expect to enjoy the same range of flavors but, unfortunately, the quality of food is not comparable with location.

There is a quite good choice of starters, tajines with a mix of cous cous mixed with meat, fish or vegetables. There are also soups and other recipes of lambs, seafood, vegetables, and so on....

Nice presentation but quality is average, not bad but average both in consistency and flavour. They could do more because the glance it's important but you can't eat only with eyes.

I made a booking for two high class foreigners and when we arrived with a table visibly available we were turned away in a very arrogant way.
The German owner made snide remarks and the German lady front of house was the same. Don't go if you have dark skin... Indian... From Pakistan... or Africa etc The smart Morrocan lady with us was ashamed of the way her Country was represented.

At the next restaurant they were welcomed with open arms and left a 200euro tip.... the tip for Marrakech... learn some tolerance and some manners.

This place is in the middle of a construction site (Sept 2016) but once you are inside the old factory building - it is like you are in Morocco. The music, smell, food, music - everything is very much Moroccan. The food was very good and almost too much!
