“A long walk rewarded with a magnificent view of Kassel”
Review of Wasserkuenste

Wasserkuenste
Ranked #5 of 60 things to do in Kassel

It is kind of a long climb up the many stairs alongside the ''Wasserkuenste" (water arts), but you will be rewarded by a magnificent view of Kassel if you walk up to the end.

By the way, it is quite a good cardio exercise if you need one.

The only thing was that the cascades only function once a day at around 15:45 I believe. And we missed that of course as we climbed in the morning.

A pleasant but quite extensive walk uphill took us from the #1 tramway stop to the picture shown here, with the Wilhelmshöhe park extending downwards. Even for handicapped (i.e., walking with a cane), well to manage. At the bottom, there is a nice café for coffee and pastries. A happy day in Kassel!

The Wasserkuenste (or 'Wasserspiele') are the centerpiece of their Bergpark. Designed some 3 centuries ago the Park and water arrangements are so unique that they were declared a UNESCO world cultural heritage a few years back. Cascades, aqueduct, waterfalls, fountains, just fantastic. The Wasserkuenste are only available in Summer, Wednesdays and Sundays starting 2:30 pm.

We had a nice stroll through the park with the family. Nice views, great forest and waterworks. We missed the actual fountains and waterfalls since this is only on sunday, monday and holidays around 15:00.
