With Frankfurt Hotels rocketing their rates during Motor Show time, I've learned it pays to move out of the city and Wiesbaden has been my choice. I chose the Hotel am Landeshaus because of its close proximity to Wiesbaden main station and because the rates were not stratospheric. Two of us shared a triple room (for two nights) which was acceptably spacious and adequately comfortable if relatively sparsely furnished. Cleanliness of the room and bathroom (shower only) was good and water was hot at all times. The absence of aircon meant the balcony door was often open and traffic noise was very evident, but during the night with the door closed, noise was not an irritant. A good and well-presented continental breakfast was served and represented good value at EUR7.00. Location for access to the town centre is also reasonable if you regard a 10-15 minute walk as normal. In truth, this hotel is really a B&B as it has no communal facilities but if you treat it as such, it serves its purpose well. Reception attitude was pleasingly friendly but ensure you advise of an arrival time as the desk is not always occupied. Once checked-in, a front door key is issued to allow free movement at all times. Simple, pleasant enough and good value but unpretentious.
