Just stayed at Hotel St Andreas twice in 4 weeks and there is so much to praise this hotel for, yes there are facilities that are normally within a hotel but not in this one but nothing detracts from the experience. Location is the biggest plus - right in the center of the old town .. bars, cafes, restaurants all around, Rhein 2 mins away, tram 1 min away and main shops (including the famous Konigsalle) 4 mins away, free wi-fi. The rooms are modern (flatscreen TV with multi language channels) and extremely clean with a nice complimentary bottle of water and fruit when you arrive. The prices are superb for the reasons above and once you have searched similar hotels in the old town you will realise that Hotel St Andreas is excellent value. OK and now the other points - no car parking (insider tip is to park just off the Nordstr area at weekends where its free and then a pleasant 20 mins walk through the park to the old town), check in from 15.00 hrs (not a problem unless you are looking for 1 days stay for the price of 1 night ... offset this with check out at 12.00 hrs which is a huge plus if you have visited for the bars ... no breakfast (not a problem at all as there are plenty of cafes etc. open in the mornings that serve breakfasts including a cafe a few doors down that has a good value eat all you can) and no reception (check is with the restaurant and this is quick, efficient and in German or English).
In summary this is good value for money in a good location.

this is a third class hotel-and I don't mean 3 stars!

The Hotel was locked up when I arrived at 11am after a long overseas flight- couldn't check in till 4:30PM. The first night the electricity went out in my room. I had to dress in the dark. There is no breakfast service and indeed no ONE on premises to offer any type of assistance. Room was clean but bathroom was dated and uncomfortable.

Wouldn't think of staying here again

Room Tip: There are none

Reception is same like a bar desk. Rooms are dirty. Service are bad. There isn´t any breakfast and any other services. No lift. It´s very difficult to find hotel because hotel has not any good logos what you can see on the street. Hotel description is not real. It gives total wrong imagination.

there is no reception We had to wait until 10h30 when the restaurant opened before we could leave our luggage inside
It was terribly cold and had to freeze outside and went home with bronchitis!

Overall hotels are a rip off -
If you stay for one day you have to pay for 2 days because hotels only let you in at 3h and you have to leave at 12h the next day. OR you must be prepared to stand in the cold from sometimes 6am until your room is ready at 3h
GET MORE STAFF!!!!!

Room Tip: WIFI did not work

It is a hotel above a restaurant. The restaurant is good, nice food. The room is nice but both internet and television were not working. There was no reception you had to pick up the key at the bar of the restaurant. When we noticed the internet did not work, the man in the restaurant said he would look in too that bot nothing happened. No possibity for breakfast. Beds were okay.

Room Tip: ask for a room away from the street
