As Tio Pepe fans, we took that tour in Jerez, which was perfectly fine, but reading reviews in TripAdvisor made us decide to also take the Gutierrez Colosia tour, and we're so glad we did. The guide was really excellent, not sounding like he had memorized a script. His English was excellent, too. In all cases, one doesn’t really see the production of the sherry, only bodegas full of barrels. After our tasting of six different wines, we bought two half bottles of sherry, a fino and an amontillado to do our own tasting at home. And we had two good lunches at Bespoke, the nearby small restaurant owned by a family member.

We went hear after the larger Osborne bodega had no space on the tour that day and we were impressed. It's a small bodega, family run. They run tours in Spanish and English every day. At 10 euros per person, it's great value and lasts about 90 mins. First you are taken on a tour of the small bodega and the processes of sherry making are explained very well by our tour guide. There was no information overload, which kept it interesting. Afterwards you are taken to the tasting area, where your group sits around a table and you sample a generous 6 types of sherry. If you ask you can try the brandy too as well as the sherry vinegars. There is no hard sell and the produce is good value.

As others have done, we took the catamaran over from Cadiz and visited this Bodegas having read the many good reviews. We were very impressed with the way the tour was organised. Our very knowledgable, engaging and informative guide - Bertrand, we think his name was - made the whole sherry aging process very clear and interesting, with many humerous touches. We also saw the sherry being bottled, something we hadn’t seen before. We finished with an excellent seated tasting of 6 sherries and a brandy conducted in a relaxed manner. The sherries were outstanding, especially the Fino! At no time were we rushed or persuaded to buy and at €10 each it made a very special and memorable experience.

We took the catamaran across from Cadiz to visit this small bodega. What a jewel! It was just the two of us and we were escorted around the bodega by a friendly and very informative guide (feel bad that I have forgotten his name). We were encouraged to take our time and ask questions, it was such a relaxed and informal experience with no sense that the information was being reeled off from some memorized sheet such as you get in larger bodegas. The guide was passionate about the sherry making process and helped us understand about the complex nature of sherry production. The tour ended with a tasting of the sherry ranges and one brandy. After explaining the different qualities in each our guide left us at the table to finish enjoying our glasses along with the accompanying nibbles with no pressure to buy (although we did buy because it was great sherry and an excellent price).

Very interesting, warm and personal explanation of how sherry is made.
This bodega may produce thousands of gallons of sherry each year but it is the smallest in El Puerto de Santa Maria and this is shown in the family touch of the tour.
We toured the Osborne bodega in El Puerto a few years ago, which was also very good, and a few wineries elsewhere over the years but I have to say that this tour was the best we've had.
The tasting at the end with 6 different sherries and a brandy was great fun and gave us a chance to chat with the others on the tour, as well as discuss further with the tour guide. It ended up a great social occasion, although we were pleased our hotel was so close, for a lie down after 6 generous glasses of sherry and one of brandy!
The bodega's bar is next door, and called Bespoke.
