We had an excellent stay in Malaga in this apartment. The photos are accurate, but we had not realised that the accommodation is inside a gated community at Number 8 Plaza de San Francisco. You need a key to get through the gate, and then the apartments are in front of you in a long oblong shape. Ours was at the very back, which means you are some way away from any passing traffic, and we slept very well every night. This was an important factor for us. There are some other apartments which are used for holiday rentals, but the majority of residents are local people, and they were all very welcoming.
The front door is heavy and solid, and can be triple locked. On the left of the central hallway is the lounge/dining room which overlooks the pedestrian area of the buildings. The lounge is comfortable and has a small balcony which we used for morning coffee etc. On the right is a smallish kitchen which is well equipped with a large fridge/freezer, an oven, toaster, kettle etc. The crockery was very attractive and there was a large array of pots and pans. Again, the important item for us was the cooker, because we often eat in when we're away, and we could cook up anything that took our fancy - and the amazing Atarazanas market is about 5 minutes walk away. One bedroom has a double bed and the other has two singles and the mattresses were extremely comfortable. The bathroom is quite small, and the weak point in our opinion was the shower. It worked well and the water was hot, but the shower apparatus when hung on the wall was in a fixed position. Directly under the shower head was a large protruding shower tray, which prevented the user from standing under the jet of water. I know this sounds odd, but we thought the tray was in the wrong position. Alessandro and Irene were easy to deal with and they had prepared a very helpful manual about the apartment, and about Malaga. We'd suggest that they include in this instructioins on how the various appliances work. Yes, Irene briefed us on these, but after a long day, the information didn't go in and we had to call for their assistance when we couldn't work out whether we'd switched the oven off properly. It also took us a few days to master the heating/air conditioning and the hot water systems, so a description in the manual would have been useful.
The nearest supermarket was 5 minutes away, and there was an excellent bakery (Julia's) where we bought great sandwiches. We walked all over the old town, and up to the old Spanish fort, the Gibralfaro. We swam off Malagueta beach where the water was "refreshing". Malaga is a great city with an enormous variety of choices. We didn't get to the Botanical gardens, but maybe next time.
I stayed in the property for 9 nights. The property owners are very welcoming and helpful. The rooms are clean and the facilities are perfect. The location is ideal mainly for families. I will recommend anyone planning to visit Malaga to stay there.
