Owner description: The Historic Botanical Garden of La Concepcion is an English landscape garden with more than 150 years of history. Located at the northern entrance of the Spanish city of Malaga, it is one of the few gardens with subtropical climate plants that exist in Europe. It has more than fifty thousand plants, of two thousand tropical, subtropical and autochthonous species, highlighting the collection with more than a hundred different species of palms, bamboos, aquatic plants and its historic garden. Originally it was a recreational farm for a family of the upper middle class of the city since the middle of the 19th century.

Stunning historical place, very much worth a visit. Trees from all over the place and loads of history. My only complaint is the level of maintenance, especially around the water features, where turtles and frogs aren’t having the best of times! But besides that we truly enjoyed the visit. We live in Benahavis, about an hour drive away, and would definitely bring visitors again! Thank you

Worth the trip from Malaga city if you are in search of some tranquillity. We came at Easter and it was perfect. Wheelchair friendly, loads of paths and resting places. Excellent cafe with homemade quiche etc vegetarian friendly.

The garden has seen better days. It looks as though it has not been tended for many a year, The ponds are devoid of life, except slime. The whole garden has not been weeded for many a year. The trees have not been pruned and the garden is largely in shade. The few open spaces have no plants of interest.
The worst botanical garden I have visited. Don't bother!

These gardens have been described as one of the best in Europe.
This probably depends on the time of year that you visit. We were a little early for the Spring flowers. Nevertheless, the extensive variety of trees and plants was very good. Very well maintained with good access. There is also a very good restaurant for lunch or snacks.
Located a little out of town, the best way to get there is on Line 2 of the tour bus, leaving from the railway station costing 1.30 Euros each way

We stopped here whislt on a trip round the island. The gardens are beautiful, very relaxing in a tropical setting. Well worth a visit.
