After about a week of travelling to a few cities in Europe, Hotel Villa Guadalupe and Restaurante Amador was a very pleasant experience! This is my second time visiting this establishment and it was just as much of a pleasure this time as it was the first. The staff are so accommodating and inviting that it is hard not to feel at home, even while being so far far away. Receptionist/waitress/hostess Candace was so helpful throughout our stay. Our experience was seamless from check-in to check-out, we didn't want to leave! The waitstaff were most knowledgable on their menu, giving suggestions to match our tastes when we weren't sure what to order. Everything on the menu created by Amador himself is amazing! I strongly suggest the short ribs and either the puff pastry or lava cake for dessert. DELISH! If you are travelling to Malaga, you need to stay at this place or at least go for a meal, or two!

Arriving here after 4 weeks already on the road, the hotel was a beautiful, relaxing and quiet oasis, nestled in the hills.

The twisting turns up the hill through houses do not seem like they lead to a hotel - but they do! A car is essential to access - walking is a long hard hike and the immediate surrounding area is almost 100% residential, so nothing interesting to really explore. A 4WD/SVU might be tricky at points when oncoming traffic comes, but it's worth it.

Staff friendly, helpful and not over bearing. Hotel comfortably quiet, small in a quaint way and rustically Spanish. Rooms large and cool. Views amazing - looking over Malaga and out to sea, as well as down the coast to Torremolinos. Despite being here in the last weeks of summer, the beautiful pool (with a view) was constantly ours.

Reluctant to be the people that 'ate at the hotel' but too tired to venture out on our arriving night, the meal we reluctantly had at the hotel was one of the highlights of our entire trip. Mid range price for high end fusion flavour (I still think about the ox tail croquettes).

If you want a calm, quiet, clean and relaxing place to rest, and don't mind driving to get back into the thick of it when you can, this is the place to go. Would definitely recommend this and can't wait to go back!

Room tip: Balcony for a view and some rooms have a small grassed area perfect for kids/pets.

Let me get something straight from the start. Before I review any Hotel/Restaurant etc. I read the WORST reviews first and take it from there. Places do not conform to everyone's taste and one mans nectar is another mans Japanese Knot Weed! The V.Guadalupe is a small family run bijou hotel atop of a massive hill at the back of Malaga city. Do not entertain staying here if you have no car. On foot you need to be FIT! VERY Or use taxis. We have stayed at this delightful hotel three times and have always been welcomed with open arms. The rooms are simple and tasteful. Bags of hot water and very clean. The restaurant is quite superb, excellent food from small menu, big tables well layed-up over linen cloths with nothing less than spectacular views over the city, night and day. Americans will love this if they want to experience the European way. Las Vegas this isn't! I admit that we are always 'out of season' guests and the hotel is quite quiet and I am therefore unable to pass comment on the noisiness of rooms. We have not experienced this. We will stay here again and recommend it to all.

Room tip: Chose front facers for the views and do not expect double beds.

We spent 5 nights here and ate 4 meals at the restaurant Amador at the hotel. Overall a great stay, perfect for those with cars and would like something different. Plus points:
- The staffs are amazing, all nice and friendly, especially Antonio and Candace who made us feel like home. Both speak perfect English and are among the most interesting people we have met during our trip. We will be looking forward to visit the hotel or restaurant that Antonio is opening in London, good luck to you!
- The view is stunning from the restaurant as well as from the room. The amazing artwork in the hotel is designed and made by Alex' mother.
- We agree with other reviewers that the restaurant is very good. Especially when you are tired from long day trip or lazy to go out, this is a great bonus.
Minus points - just to set your expectation:
- Difficult to reach without the car. I wouldn't imagine walking up the steep hill after a long day excursion. Or prepare to pay 10-15e for taxi ride.
- The room we stayed is not perfectly sound proof. We can hear people walking by and talking, toilet flushing from the next room etc. I brought my earplugs so no problem. Better to ask for rooms at the end of the corridor.
- Wifi connection does not work , or very slow sometimes
- The hotel and restaurant are run at the min staff level - which means that staffs are shared between the hotel and restaurant. We have no problem with that, but be aware that no one is at the reception after midnight and you will probably have to go to the restaurant to find someone.
- We ate 4 meals at the restaurant. The first one was excellent. But later even when we tried different dishes, we felt that some are on the salty side and a bit repetitive in taste. E.g. the vegetables used in several dishes are the same. No problem if you come to dine now and then. The desserts are not as impressive as starters or main course. We would recommend the tuna tartar, the duck and the lamb stew. The pan fried fish & Black Angus ribs were quite salty for me.

To summarise, we would recommend to stay here if you have a car. You would feel in love with the people and the view and easily forget all the small minus points:)

Room tip: View to the city and at the end of the corridor

We spent 5 nights in this delightful hotel on the hills above Malaga. Views on the city, from sunrise to sunset are awesome. Rooms are comfortable, reasonably sized, and well appointed. What makes it so special and so different from so many hotels is the extreme attention to detail and the warmth and genuine care for customers that Antonio and his colleagues provide. The entire staff made us feel welcome, as if we were the only guest they had to attend to. The restaurant, Amador, is also highly rated. Try their Ajo Blanco soup! Awesome.

Room tip: You will enjoy the area much more if you have a car. The hotel is on top of a hill.
