Description: This emblematic wine cellar built in an old house from the 18th century is a meeting place for people of all ages. It has welcomed many generations of artists, flamenco dancers or politicians. It is named after formerly popular city figures called 'los pimpis', young people who had helped ship crews or passengers and had become the first city guides. It is furnished in the style of Malaga, and offers local wines and delicious gastronomy which is very popular in the city. The soul of the restaurant is the lounge with the vintage wine barrels, signed by famous people, such as the family Picasso, the painter Barcelo, the bullfighter Cordobes, The Duchess of Alba, Carmen Thyssen and Antonio Banderas, who show the historical value of this place. This establisment is in the old town of Malaga, next to the Museum Picasso, La Alcazaba (the Citadel of Malaga) and the Roman Theatre.

This is a great place to visit, it's one of those Andalucia bars that have great Southern Spanish character although it consists of a few bars. This is definitely a place to call into for a drink or some great Spanish food.

We went to el pimpi on recommendation. Our friend absolutely loved this place so felt it was as a must however...,. We went on a poor weather day, the indoor was packed and the staff obviously under pressure as they were quite rude! Out doors we sat for a while but were ignored so went to a restaurant across from El pimpi and had a nice meal. As we were told this place was a must we did try again but not a good experience - not some where I would bother with again! They need to upgrade customer skills and try a bit harder - poor experience

Entering by a very small door we discovered lots of little areas for standing, sitting and eating, finally ending up near another entrance from a different street. Staff we very helpful finding is a table for a large group. The waiter came quickly to take our order, was very helpful and our selection of soft drinks, beers, wines and cocktails all arrived in a very reasonable time. We only had some jambon, bread and tortilla with our drinks but they were all good. They also had gluten free bread! All in all a good atmosphere, good service, drinks and food. I would recommend stopping here during a wander about Malaga.

Always full to the rafters with tourists and loyal locals, El Pimpi is an established restaurant with delicious seasonal dishes and fabulous views over the Roman ruins.

It's great for a light lunch or full dinner and has an extensive wine list. As it was leading up to Easter, we had the cod+chickpea stew, marinated chargrilled pork, pork meatballs in almond sauce, tuna salad and Spanish omlette, creme caramel, Easter bread and butter pudding.....yes we tried lots! All were tasty and the stand out dishes were the cod stew and chargrilled pork. Also, the service is more attentive if you're inside (where the waiters are responsible for a room each) than outside where it's much slower.

We were with our young son and he got a lot of attention when we were inside.....including a lolly and balloon - which he loved.

This place is also a good toilet stop - the bathrooms are spotlessly clean.

You can't really go wrong with this place - enjoy!
