Description: With a tradition of more than 85 years, La Viña del Ensanche offers two different spaces: The Bar, traditional premise with the classic ambient of tavern, including a covered terrace. It's Degustation Menu includes the best products from our main carte. Is the best option for an informal contact with the rhythm and pulse of the town. The Taller (Workshop), an intimate ambient with a more exclusive service, with a Gastronomic Menu accompanied with a cellar of more than 150 references, all prepared live in front of the customer. Finally, the Store, a delicatessen where you can purchase gastronomic specialities and selected wine.

We had the tasting menu which was truly wonderful. Everything on it was high quality. We've been back several times for pintxos and they are fab too. It's hard to get a seat so book if you want to eat from the menu but if you want a pintxo and drink, just join the crowd and stand in the street. Great experience.

On the phone the manager said he was fully booked, but if we showed up in person the waitress might be able to fit us in. Indeed, she had one space available, but only for their tasting menu. We said yes.
Tasting menu is not quite right, they were small courses. The amuse Bouche was a chicken croquette each. I am sure the chicken was infused with helium, it was so light. As soon as you bit through the shell, it melted in your mouth.
Next up was the vegetable course. One or two each of green bean, carrot, asparagus, red cabbage, all lightly coated with a veggie based gravy..
The fish course was sushi grade tuna, in a broth flavoured with espelette pepper. Not too hot, not too bland, just right.
The next course was light as air foam on a bed of spinach leaves.
As we were slowing down at this point the waiter suggested a 10 minute time out. We took it, with some time to savour our excellent red wine, a Rioja Predicador 2015.
The piece de resistance was a solo milo sized steak served with a mango chutney.
Then a palette cleansing sorbet followed by dessert: bits of carrot cake, an egg shaped scoop of apricot sorbet and a foamy, creamy cream coloured sauce.
The servers (3) attended to our every need most graciously.
This dinner qualifies as the best we had during our month in Spain.

When we first sat down outside for dinner we really weren't sure about this place, we visited based on trip advisor reviews but the menu seemed to lack variety. How wrong we were, the food was exceptional! We had the mozzarella salad, croquettes, rissotto, hake and pork cheeks which were all fantastic. Despite the fact 5 of us had dessert and we had an extra bottle of wine than the previous night (terrible meal) it was only €10 more expensive- we thought we'd been given the wrong bill. Fabulous service too.

High quality pintxos. Fois gras stands out. Octopus is also very good. Lovely service. Not to be missed.

Booked this restaurant for dinner in advance online. When we arrived we were told all the nice tables were reserved and we could choose what's left....... well, we also reserved a table and we were the first customers arrived for the evening! Oh well, couldn't be bothered to look around for another restaurant as everywhere was very busy. We settled and had the €40 tasting menu, good food, service was quick, likely because they wanted to have the table back for other customers, it was very busy. The waitress who welcomed us was rude, other staff were a bit more attentive. Would say tasting menu was good, also a rather nice restaurant.
