Visited on our first night in Bilbao after a few vinos and pinxtos in a nearby bar. Had booked it a few hours earlier after calling in on 'off chance' as we passed by the restaurant and checked it out on-line.

The restaurants is a buzzy busy bistro style set up with a theatrical hands on patron running the floor! Language for us lazy monolinguals was a challenge but the staff were patient and we settled on our order of clams and octopus starters followed by a shared sea bream and green salad! The fish entrees come dressed with garlic so it order some salad to accompany it. The food was great and washed down with a well priced white.

We rounded off the meal with excellent coffees and a local digestif. All in all a very enjoyable experience

For our last night in Spain, we wanted to stay close to our hotel near the Jardines de Albia. La Casita was recommended by our hotel manager. The casual restaurant features a class case in the main dining room where you can see all of the wide variety of fish and Crustacea. We chase berberechos (little clams) and marinated tuna for starters, and we shared a 1 kilo piece of turbot as an entree. Everything was super fresh and portions were generous. I thought there was a touch too much garlic in the clams, though they were super sweet and just barely steamed so moist and juicy. Similarly the turbot preparation was a bit too garlicky and could have been more interesting - even though I am not a fan of overly designed and fussy dishes. Also the bread was nice but I think the entree should have had either rice or potatoes And so as noted, very good but not great.

Ended up paying €36 for a full meal for two people - and what a meal it was. The seafood was perfectly cooked and the wine to march was excellent. The desert too sweet for my french taste burn good nevertheless.

Enjoyed sitting outside in the street as well.

Be back anytime.

If you enjoy fish - you have to visit La Casita de Sabino. Its good, simple and no bull s... kind of fish. And it taste just amazing. From the appetizer through main dish and dessert all was honest, well made and tasty beyond expectation. Their english was limited to mostly sign langue, but what they lacked in langue skills they made up for in effort.
Highly recommended!!

I will surely have good memories from this restaurant. Yes, it is not high-end, but the seafood was excellent. I chose rey fish, and it seemed like the best fish ever!
The staff was very nice and friendly, not the stiff type of service, and the atmosphere was great. On a Friday night it seemed like we were the only non-locals, and the place was crowded.
