Description: Etxanobe restaurant is amazingly sited above Bilbaos second iconic building, the gleaming Palacio Euskalduna. Etxanobe is one of the hottest dining spots in the world right now, drawing breathless reviews from food-writers and food-lovers for the grand cuisine of chef/owner Fernando Canales. The post-modern dcor of the two dining rooms one of them available for private hire features a fabulous ruched fabric ceiling, wittily skirted lighting, white linens and seating, and unforgettable views over the estuary and the Guggenheim from the terrace. Light pours in everywhere. Innovation is on display in every mouthful that emerges from Canales kitchen. Theres no menu of the day; you choose a la carte or a series of tasters. Dishes change monthly and may include deceptively simple descriptions like starter of lasagne of anchovies, main course of sole with pil-pil sauce and trout eggs, and home made dessert of cinnamon and rice puff-pastry with milk, though youd be mad to miss the little chocolate bombs. The wines are excellent and the service is a mission unto itself in a word, sublime.

We had a wonderful experience at Etxanobe on Friday lunchtime. From being welcomed by the team, it's immediately obvious that you are in the hands of real professionals who hold their commitment to the customer in the highest regard.

We opted for the Chef's Tasting menu which was an excellent selection for lunch and showcased the restaurant's & chefs' skills in flavour and presentation. This was excellently complemented by the Artzai Txakolina and all served by the team with knowledge and care.

Looking forward visiting when they relocate to their new home nearby.

Thank Bruce C

We did not have one of the lengthy tasting menu- all our courses were excellent. The jamon, the tempura asparagus, the scampi, and leg of lamb were excellent. My husband had to return for another dinner just for the leg of lamb in gravy - it was the most outstanding! Wine was excellent! For dessert, the Chef's interpretations of apple strudel and tiramisu were very interesting - beautifully presented and delicious!!

Ok good but even though I had 2 starters and had plenty the main course for a man was in the small side to say the least! If you order the ribs you get a huge plate with 2 ribs on and that's it! You get two bread rolls each - 1 fresh one 2 stale one.
Sauvignon Blanc was very good though

We had a lovely dinner here with friends. The food is classic rather than adventurous but well presented. There was plenty of truffle on the menu for one fan. There was a slight hitch with my main course but the staff quickly replaced the dish. The hake was a little ordinary but everything else was delicious. Be warned, it is not easy to find. GPS took us to the back of the building which was a bit tricky. Look for an elevator marked with the restaurant name.

The restaurant is modern with a highly interesting decoration.İt also has a balcony where you can eat.The food and the wine was excellent.I had a an anchovy lasagne which made me drool. But I was very disappointed seeing a group of young males wearing shorts. When you pay a high price in a highly recommednde restaurant at night you would think that the establishment would barr people with shorts. The wait person said she was "sorry".You do not want to see men in sandals with hairy legs.
