The last 9/11/2017 we went on a fantastic trip to Vitoria with our class. It was a good opportunity to ease off from exams and discover an historical and marvellous city.
The thing that most appealed to us was the ancient Cathedral. We took an english guided tour but we make out the whole visit because it was very well explained. Our guide was very kind and she led us through the foundations of the cathedral and we also had the opportunity to walk on different levels such as on the tribune and the spiral staircase.
The most interesting thing was learning the history of Vitoria and its Cathedral by mockups , which explained its construction from the first stone to its last improvements.
We really appreciated the video at the end of the visit, which showed how the cathedral decoration has been changed during the years,in a modern and digitalized way.

In conclusion, the gothic cathedral of Vitoria is a magical place where the history of this capital is captured. We think it is a must to do visiting the Cathedral due to its recent restoration and the well-adapted and explained that the guided tour was.
We also want to thank “Fundación Catedral de Santa Maria” for its huge effort on maintaining an important legacy of our history.

The visit started in a small terrace near the Cathedral Office when we could see the statue of Ken Follet, we made the groups to the visit, and started it.
Firstly, we watched a short film about the problems of the Cathedral and his reconstruction. It was very interesting because introduce you into the thematic.
Then we went to the Cathedral´s subsoil, there we saw models about the history of the construction of the cathedral, there were very realistics and they help you understand the explanation. Then we saw the pillars of the cathedral and archaeological remains like a skull, it was amazing!!! next we went to the part of the church and we saw the organ, the stained glass, the roof and its cracks and the altar, after we visit the top of the cathedral, they gave us a helmet due to the cathedral was in reconstruction works, there we enjoy beautiful views. Finally we went to the portic and we watched a 3D projection of the differents color and styles of that wall in the history, that was my favorite part of the visit.
I recommend this visit to everybody, especially to young people like us because we should be informed about history.

The Vitoria´s cathedral, it´s the best way to considerate the past of the city since the 13th century. Despite the construction errors due to lack of knowledge of the builders, it was able to be standing with the help of the restauration work, and now we can relive the history of Vitoria.
If you are thinking about visiting Vitoria, you should consider visiting this wonder.

I went to this immensely piece of arquitecture yesterday afternoon.
Before going in, i visited the facades and all its macabre and dantesque carved creatures. I love the gothic style and i really recommend visiting this cathedral.
First of all it's gigantic and it houses the Sacred Art Museum, second it's free, all of it (cathedral, museum and crypt). You heard me! IT even as this vampiric-like crypt, which opens at 7h15 pm, and holds a mess at 7h30, so be sure to be there before the mess so you can visit the crypt without its religious affairs.
Also, if you'r a fan of tomb raider or davinci code you'll be very amused, since there are a few intriguing objects..

Last week, I visited Saint Mary’s cathedral, in Vitoria, with a group of friends. We come from Navarre so our native language is Spanish. However, we did a guided tour in English as it was necessary for a school project. We didn’t expect it to be so easy to understand but it actually was thanks to our guide, who was a fluent English speaker whose clear explanations made the visit very enriching.
At the end of the visit, we saw a presentation about how the Cathedral was painted in different ages. This was one of the most interesting and memorable parts.
It was amazing to be able to see and understand how the reconstruction is being made by walking through the foundations, walls and stained glasses.
If any of you is planning on doing a trip like this, we absolutely recommend it because it taught us how life was before and now, and how the cathedral was influenced by all of this changes. Its evolution is surprisingly amazing. We can’t wait for its reconstruction to be finished to go back to the beautiful city of Vitoria and visit it again.
