A pleasant stay :)

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 30 Jun 2024
I was a little nervous about this hotel as I'd seen some negative reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised overall.

PROS: We had a premium marina/sea view room, and although I wouldn't really say it was premium, it was a good size, plenty of storage for cases, shelves and wardrobe space, the balcony was also a good size. The hotel is very clean, even the pool toilets were spotless. The staff were really helpful and kind. Breakfast buffet was civilised and a nice selection of fresh food. We walked into Palma one evening which took 20-30 minutes, but the walk along the marina is pleasant. It's between EUR 6 and EUR 9 for a taxi to Palma. It's very clean outside and the location feels safe during the day/early evening and is accessible.
Lots of people have moaned about the road works but they weren't noisy and didn't impact us much. The decor is very modern and the hotel bar was quiet which was a nice change.

OTHER: We had a cracked drinking glass in the room, and we requested a new one but the replacement was also cracked. The milk in the room for tea wasn't replaced as often as we'd like so we had to ask the cleaners but they were very accommodating.
It would have been nice to have music in the main bar in evenings but it was a lovely calming atmosphere regardless. The sun was only on our balcony for a couple of hours so this was a shame because it was tricky to get a sunbed in the afternoon if we'd been out during the morning.

Overall, a lovely hotel stay in a great location - easy to get to Palma on foot or taxi and plenty of delicious restaurants and bars nearby.

Dear Ms. Gi,
Thank you for the time taken to share your experience of staying with us.

We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the size and storage of our premium marina/sea view room, as well as the spacious balcony offering you a snippet of Palma's beauty. It's wonderful to know that our commitment to cleanliness met your expectations, particularly the spotless state of our poolside facilities. Our team strives to deliver a service culture that ensures every guest feels cared for, so your kind words about their helpfulness are much appreciated. We're glad that our gastronomic experiences, starting with a diverse and fresh breakfast buffet, contributed positively to your stay.
We regret to hear about the inconveniences with the glassware and the milk replenishment in your room. Please be assured that these points will be noted for our internal review to ensure a seamless room experience for all our guests. The sun exposure for the balconies can indeed vary, and we understand how delightful it is to enjoy the Mediterranean sun; we recommend our The Level rooms for their private balconies with extended views, which might better suit your preferences for future visits.
It's heartening to know that our hotel's location allowed you ease of access to Palma and that you felt safe and well-positioned to explore the local dining and entertainment options. We hope that the road works did not detract significantly from the tranquility of your stay and that you found tranquility in the modern decor and ambiance of our hotel.

We hope to welcome you back.
Best wishes,

Pilar Rueda, Guest Experience Manager

My wife and I stayed at the melia mid June 2024, for part of our honeymoon for three nights. Check in was efficient and quick no issues there. We got a seaview room with a balcony, had two chairs and a table was very nice. Could see the pool and marina, as well as the cathedral. Rooms were clean, had a minor with the a/c but was fixed quickly while we were out and about. On our last night they surprised with a bottle of champagne which was a nice touch. Hotel bar staff was very friendly and welcoming. It's about a 20-25” walk to the cathedral and downtown area, the whole walk is very quiet and safe. There is construction on the main road in front of the hotel but did not impact walking, may impact you if you are driving from the airport etc. Only minor downside is the doors all close extremely tight so they need to be slammed to get closed. Overall, would highly recommend as we found it was good balance between relaxation and city fun. Was far enough away from the party area but close enough to walk where you need to (marina as well). Some great restaurants within a couple minute walk towards downtown

We're delighted to hear that the check-in process met your expectations for efficiency and that your room experience, especially the view from your private balcony, enhanced your stay. It's fantastic to know that our team's attention to detail, such as the surprise bottle of champagne, contributed positively to your honeymoon celebration. Just got stuck in a lift for nearly an hour ! No communication from the hotel and when I finally got out not one member of staff was there to check if we were all ok.
Even when I spoke to the manageress she still wasn’t concerned.
Now I’m worried about going up in the lift.
Never coming here again.

Dear Mr. Taylor,
We are very sorry to read this comment.
As we already mentioned yesterday, we cannot prevent some situations from happening, but we are clear about the valuable treatment that our clients deserve at all times.
First of all, and as I did personally yesterday and this morning, I apologize again for the unexpected incident. I myself was attentive to you and your family, both asking for forgiveness and trying to compensate this situation for your entire family, although it only happened to you, with details and attention for you and your entire family.
Likewise, I myself spoke with his wife this morning and she confirmed that your family and you were fine.
We are very sad to read that everything we have tried to make you feel comfortable has not borne fruit.
For us, the most important thing is the satisfaction of our clients since at all times we want them to feel at home, as well as cared for at all times.
We would be delighted to see you again,
Sincerely,
Pilar Rueda, Guest Experience Manager

We stayed here recently while over for a family wedding. The hotel is situated outside of palma cemtre. It’s a 20-30 minute walk to the centre and there is very basic amenities nearby. There is a convenience shop just outside selling snacks, drinks, etc and a lovely Italian on the corner but not much else about.
The rooms were starting to look run down, the wardrobes were scratched to bits. Our bathroom constantly smelt like sewage which we told the cleaners about most days but nothing was done about it.
We upgraded to a levels room where you can use a seperate lounge throughout the day and get free snacks and drinks, they also do a seperate breakfast in here however the main breakfast was lovely but I agree with other reviews the bacon was anemic.
In the levels lounge you also get unlimited beer, wine, spirits, cocktails between 5-7 which was good.
The food in the day is very basic, not even bread is provided but you can get a coffee and a biscuit and some drinks, from 5 they do have a lot more option like sandwiches and cakes etc.
the pool area was just ok, the sun loungers are some of the most uncomfortable I’ve every lay on. They have a pole that sits right in the middle of your back and every person there moaned about this, we knew 70 people staying at the same hotel so trust me this is an issue!
The pool bar doesn’t open until 11 which is stupid as most people are out there from around 9 and can’t get a drink yet they don’t let you bring outside drinks in.
The food at the pool was average. We had the humous and pita which was very bland and the chicken goujons which were dry as a bone.
The reception staff were very hit and miss some were helpful some were just rude.
As we were in the levels rooms luckily we could use their reception staff who were very polite and helpful. They arrange our iron and board, late checkout, kept our bags when we checked out. So I would definitely recommend upgrading to this service.
You also get 1 hour on the spa for free with the levels rooms and as we had a late flight we used this on our last day so we could shower after a day round the pool before our flight. The spa is only small but it’s nice and has showers. Don’t tell them your just coming into to do that on your last day though as they wouldn’t allow some guests and charge if you just want to use the shower. Just tell them you have a levels room and would like to use your free hour and they’ll let you in, then you have access to all the facilities.
There are road works on the main road outside which do ruin the view and apparently have been there almost 2 years and I don’t see any signs of it being finished soon. There’s is also a lot of building work going on next door to the hotel so it’s very noisey from early on and a number of guests we were travelling with said it woke them every morning.
There is also a club right under the hotel which is open u til 4/5am which is also very noisey and the party goers leaving there did wake us on a few occasions. In the weekend it was slightly concerning coming back to the hotel as there were numerous drug dealers outside offering us things and also a lap dancing club under the hotel which I’m sure is why many men book to stay here however you had women roaming outside reception trying to entice your husband in, not ideal.
As you are on the marina, there are a lot of cruise ships which are very loud and sound horns from 8am, not the hotels fault but you WILL NOT get a lie in in this hotel. Plus the cleaners, although good will be banging in the hall ways and knocking on your door from 7.30 and even when you say no they continue to knock every 5 minutes u til you’ve said no 3 times so maybe put your ‘do not disturb’ on the door.
On our last day they were setting up an event to celebrate 50 years of the hotel being open, they roped off the pool in the morning and also had men in and out all day moving heavy machinery, stage set up, lights, speakers. Not what you want to be watching or listening to while you’re trying to relax and the hotel never made us aware of this.
All in all , not the best hotel, not in a good location and definitely not worth the very expensive cost we paid to stay there.
Very disappointed!

Room tip: If you’re going for a relaxing holiday and want to be near stuff to do then don’t stay here.

Modern stylish hotel just outside the city centre and with good views over the Marina. We were there for a family holiday/wedding and booked two rooms. The rooms are well appointed with good beds, a sofa, Mini bar plus tea/coffee facilities. Good wardrobe space and a nice bathroom ours was shower only but plumbing excellent with available hot water and a generous sink unit with hairdryer. Our rooms were at the back so not the best view but we were not particularly disappointed as there is a large construction project on the main road outside soi at the moment probably not looking its best. The pool and sunbeds were good and the pool bar/food staff were very good. at weekend it was busy with queues so perhaps an additional staff member would help. The overall view of the bar/reception/foyer area was very modern and stylish with clever use of mirrors and a grand staircase. The bar in the evening is a nice place to have a drink and unlike many hotels I have stayed in recently was busy. The guys behind the bar were excellent and were happy to deliver drinks to the table. We didn't eat in the hotel so cannot comment. The reception team were friendly and efficient but I did feel that some sort of concierge team would be useful as trying to do something simple like book a taxi was not possible sometimes due to queues of guests checking in and out. I have to mention the lifts which were innovative, instead of sharing with other guest's and stopping at several floors you simply input your floor number and one of the four lifts marked A/B/C/D is illuminated taking you directly to your floor normally on your own. Overall a pleasant stay and would recommend this hotel.

Room tip: weekends are busy by the pool but quieter in the week.

The staff were extremely unfriendly to the point they were bloody rude.. we did not feel welcomed at all. However not all is lost, the breakfast was lovely but agree with earlier comment bacon needed a bit longer under the grill! Service in the pool bar slow and out first 2 cocktails when got the bill were mocktails!!! Lot of building work going on all the main road is dug up and buildingnwork at the back of the building so don't expect a lie in. Overall ok 👍

Dear Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to review your stay.

We're glad to hear that our breakfast offerings were to your liking, providing a variety of choices from continental to vegan options, ensuring a delightful gastronomic experience for all our guests. However, we're sorry to hear about your perception of our staff's friendliness and the service speed at the pool bar; your feedback is important as it helps us maintain our service culture.
