5 star in some respect but not in all!

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 7 Jul 2024
On the whole this was a wonderful hotel and I loved the way the public areas had been decorated, modernised but still included pieces of furniture I assume to be from when the hotel was originally built. The rooms, were a little dated but I loved the wrought iron balcony which gave us a stunning view of the sea, marina, cruise ships and cathedral. The staff were mostly fabulous. I found the reception staff my least favourite. A little surly and not particularly helpful. No one offered a map of Palma or advice on getting round. The waitressing staff, pool staff and housekeeping 10/10! It was spotless. Its position didn’t bother us, it was easy to get around and the breakfast view was worth it.

BUT be warned, the road works did not bother us noise wise and they are temporary, what isn’t is the Lio night club next door. Every night we were woken two or three times, with revellers leaving the club, shouting and singing as loud as they could. This club is open til 5 in the morning so there is no escape. Would not return to this hotel because of that.

Dear Guest,
Greetings from the Hotel Victoria, a Gran Meliá Hotel!
We thank you for sharing this feedback on your recent stay.

We are delighted to hear that you appreciated the blend of modern and traditional elements in our public areas, along with the breathtaking views from your wrought iron balcony.

It also brings us great joy to know that the professionalism and dedication of our waitstaff, pool attendants, and housekeeping team met your expectations, ensuring a pristine environment throughout your visit.

However, we regret to hear that your interactions with our reception staff did not reflect the high standards of hospitality we strive for. While we take great pride in our location, offering easy access around the city and a magnificent breakfast view, we understand the disturbance caused by external noise can affect the tranquility of your stay. Please rest assured that we are dedicated to a life well-lived for our guests, and we are continuously exploring ways to enhance the comfort and experience of all who stay with us, including addressing any external factors that may impact their rest.

The whole team certainly hope we can welcome you back on another occasion. Many thanks once again,

I'm at the hotel at the moment. This hotel is excellent. Chiara in the evening dining is wonderful. The food is superb, we are staying half board and the food is sublime. Out the front the views of the marina are stunning, it's hard to say which time of day is best evening or day. In the evening the cathedral is lit up. The rooms are very comfortable l, I would recommend the sea view rooms. There is always space around the pool and the loungers are very comfortable. Towels are provided. The staff are friendly and efficient. There is a bus number 4 or 47 (from the entrance to the hotel turn left. And up the road 40 metres is the bus stop 2 euros pp into centre of palma. A taxi back is 7 euros. Palma itself is stunning quaint and interesting. At the north side of Palma. You can get at 1912 train through the mountains to Soller. At the bus station you can get all over the island. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation. Just an a side note the porter found some money I had dropped and found me to return it. Great and honest staff.

Booked a weekend stay in June to enjoy the city and catch-up with some friends following a stay at a resort by the coast.

We got there a little early having checked out of our previous hotel around midday but they were able to accommodate us with our room. We were offered a drink at check-in and then shown around the Red Level area which we got as part of our room package. Staff very helpful and keen to show off the hotel. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. For those wanting modern, this is more your traditional 5 star Spanish hotel but done in a way that’s not tired. The room was equipped with everything you’d expect from a 5 star hotel, including turndown service and room refresh all done immaculately. Nice touch of a welcome letter from the manager with some fresh (and delicious) cakes. The only issue with the room was the lights and they quickly came and politely gave me an idiot’s guide without making me feel like an idiot.

The Red Level space is small but comfortable and the staff are always on hand to help with anything – we used them a couple of times for restaurant suggestions. There are drinks (tea/coffee, beer, wine and soft drinks) throughout the day and at certain times spirits and some tapas. As the space is small sitting in the adjacent bar area or even outside on the terrace was our preference.

Breakfast is on the terrace overlooking the marina (or you can sit inside if you wish) and is a buffet – although hot drinks are ordered at the table and arrive quickly. Plenty of choice at the buffet from the health conscious to those that want a hot breakfast including an egg station for freshly made options. Although busy it was very organised and there was an underlying feeling of calm which made for a very pleasant breakfast experience.

We used the pool area a couple of times and the staff were very attentive without being overbearing. They asked us what we wanted in terms of shade vs sun, set-up loungers, covered them with fresh towels and asked if we wanted drinks. There is a pool bar that you can order drinks from and they will deliver to your area…there is also food available but we didn’t try that. The pool area is also the exit onto the main marina road and walk into the city. Although out of the main city centre it’s walkable along the harbour front from the hotel to the city centre – around 40 mins. There is construction going on outside (along most of the marina area) but we didn’t hear it in our rooms, by the pool or whilst having breakfast.

A traditionally stylish Spanish hotel with wonderful staff that I’d highly recommend, and we will absolutely be staying there again in future.

I wouldn’t stay here again. We visited as 3 friends on holidays and booked 3 double rooms for single occupancy and requested rooms close together. On arrival, after sending details by email and completing the online check in, we were greeted and informed we had been allocated 3 rooms together and upgraded with rooms with balconies. Sound good? Upon reaching the rooms we realised they were in the basement with tiny balconies overlooking a wall and the rooms were dark, dank and single occupancy rooms!!! I went back to reception to ask if we had been downgraded, having paid for double rooms with city views and instead being given single rooms with wall views. She continued to say they were upgrades with balconies (to nowhere). I asked for what we booked and paid for!!! After some time and much disagreement she changed our rooms and gave us 3 rooms on 3 different floors, but at least the rooms were now habitable.
Hotel is old and dated, tried and failed to get drinks at 10pm at the bar, customer experience manager a waste of space and reception, well I won’t comment.
Save your money and stay elsewhere.

Room tip: Don’t stay here, unless you like to be downgraded and don’t require drinks at the bar
