“Food is good, service could be improved”

Restaurante Aromas de la India
Restaurant details

Yesterday we had some delicious food, it was all fresh and tasted very good. You can take a look in the kitchen, which is well organised.
The staff however was not professional: they were busy laughing and talking to each other in stead of attending to the customers, and the lady who served us wore too much perfume.
The bathroom facilities are modern and clean. The restaurant itself could do with a little TLC: the lights are too bright and there’s a television bdxroadcasting Indian movies and clips.
But, nevertheless, the food is really good, so if you want a nice meal, but not necessarily a romantic meal, I do recommend eating there.

Tasteful dishes and good service. We were all very satisfied after having a family dinner. Both outdoor and indoor seating.

On our first visit to Puerto de la Cruz Tenerife we fancied an indian meal one night so looked at trip advisor reviews and decided to visit this one, worst decision we made all week. The tout close to the premises handing out leaflets for this place directed us to it.

Looked good, smelled really nice, good welcome from staff no room outside so went in was quickly served with drinks and given the poppadom tray with pickles and that is where the good experience ended

The restaurant was no where near full, we sat there for a few minutes waiting for a menu it never arrived, after 20 mins we were starting to get a little fed up and after half an hour of the staff serving other people that came in after us we decided enough was enough.
We got up went to the till and asked if we could pay for the drinks and leave, the staff really showed no surprise at this so i assume it was a regular occurrence
The staff avoided looking at us and were reluctant to talk, the man I assumed was the manager even left half way through the conversation to serve other peoples food, the only one who apologised was a female waitress who came on shift ten mins earlier I could not fault her professional attitude if she was on duty earlier this may not have happened. After a few minutes of talking we were told we did not have to pay for the drinks and we left.
On the way down the street to look for a more competent restaurant we encountered the same man giving out leaflets he asked how it went so we explained what had happened he was very apologetic and asked us to put our experience on trip advisor

All in all the restaurant gave a very poor experience and is giving a very poor impression of service in Puerto De La Cruz which is undeserved as all other restaurants we ate in were very good to excellent

We will return to the resort again, we will never go near the Restaurant Aromas De La India again

The only good thing about this place was the service and the wine !

To start we had stale popadoms and shared the mixed starter; the pork was very dry and the veg samosa only had potato and a few peas inside.
We then asked for a wait between courses that wasn’t a problem. We ordered chicken tikka buhna and asked the waitress for the curry to be madras hot, we love our spice, then the waitress told us that it would be to hot as the curry is already really spicy. So we went with it, and when it came it was chicken not chicken tikka and it was as spicy as a korma, no spice at all. Then we were charged for chicken tikka not just chicken.

Very good food, delicious, spicy and fresh.
We paid around 38€ for 2 starters (Samosa), 2 times naan bread, 3 main dishes, 3 beer and a big bottle of water.

The service was attentive and very friendly!

Unfortunately very little space outside, so I would recommend you to book a table!
