“Really interesting shortish walk.”

Barranco de Badajoz
Reviewed 9 January 2018

Fabulous walk especially if you are interested in native plants. There are many good examples of native and endemic plants here. Also interesting if you like industrial archaeology. There are some interesting water galleries and their associated infrastructure.. Best to visit late morning/early afternoon because it looses it's sun in the afternoons! Can be quite cold too so bring some extra layers.

Can you imagine how people can live in flats carved into caves? It is possible to have a look at into their daily life, and perhaps buy some local honey. There is a small church and a restaurant as well with the sculpture of guanches in the front.

It is said that if you go into it, you could vanish and nobody will be able to find you any more. Yo fancy scary things? ...Go, then.

You will need a car to get there as it is quite remote... but worth the effort. It is a blind valley that you can walk into. (take good walking shoes) There are the old mines that were dug out to look for water and lots of old abandoned equipment. You will need and hour to walk in and the same to walk out. Be sure to take your camera as there are lots of photo oppurtunities. There is local folklore that says that ghosts and spirits roam the place at night. One of the best walks on Tenerife... if not the best
