We booked in advance directly on the hotel website for 4-nights on a room only basis. We also booked parking at an additional €39 for 4-nights. The car park is secure parking and as there is very little parking on the roads nearby in the old city it is worth booking although a little pricey. We checked in using my bad Spanish and we were allocated room 307 on third floor.

The room was a good size, with two large twin beds, plenty of space and storage and a separate door separating the bedroom from the hallway and bathroom. There was a chargeable mini bar and free good fast wifi. The bathroom was well appointed with a good shower (very nice toiletries).

The room was at the front of the hotel and had a nice view over the buildings and we could see the cathedral to the right. We were able to open the windows for fresh air and there were black out curtains ensuring a good nights sleep. It was quite noisy with the window open as peoples voices carry across the plaza (although this is not the hotels fault). The rooms at the back of hotel would be quieter but as we liked view (especially the storks besting on bell tower of building opposite) this was a compromise.

Abba Fonesca has friendly staff, especially Francisco who came to our room very quickly to assist after I messed up the hotel safe and locked all our valuables in and couldn’t get them out (totally my fault)!

The hotel is in a good location in centre of old city, only 5-10 minute walk to House of Shells and we were comfortable here. We actually bought a few things and made our own breakfast in the room. For evening meals we can thoroughly recommend El Bardo near the House of Shells for both tapas lunches and evening restaurant meals - see my separate review.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front can experience some noise from people in the plaza at night

This hotel has no negative points. It is a bit old and dated in the decoration (mostly the bathroom) but works really well at a reasonable price.
My room was big and comfortable, I had everything I needed and wifi was good enough to work.
Location is really good to explore the core of old-town Salamanca, and it is a walkable distance from the bus station (to get from the Madrid airport for example).
Breakfast is excellent, with many choices and very satisfying.
Room service is really good as well.
The price was also fine.
Staff very nice and accommodating.

We stayed here en route to stay with friends in Portugal. Location excellent in centre of old quarter and within easy walking of Piazza and cathedral . Rooms comfortable and well equipped, and breakfast had plenty of variety. Parking easy to access.

This hotel is not located in the center of town, but Salamanca (or the most important sites to visit) are not spread out, and one can reach virtually all of them within 10-15 minutes. The rooms are large and comfortable, with a very good bed. A balcony, which is a plus. Very clean, well-kept, tastefully decorated, healthful housekeeping staff, but the front desk could have people more competent in English or French or other languages besides Spanish. The breakfast offers a wide variety of items, many meats, great fruit selection, pastries, juices, good coffees and teas.
Unfortunately, the jacuzzi was out of order and the staff seemed indifferent about making an effort to get it fixed.
Still, I can recommend this hotel (and maybe the jacuzzi will be fixed by the time you get here.)
