In the middle of the old town, parking possible next door within the pedestrian area (very narrow garage, but the hotel staff helps you), friendly staff, pictures of the room look nicer than it actually is, terrible bed. For the price and location it is fine: good value for money.

This is an basic hotel. Although we knew that before arrival there were a few things we would still have expected; a bedside lamp, a way of letting cleaners know if you were still in your room, wifi that extended further than the lobby, more than one usable socket what wasn't in the bathroom (the tv was plugged in above a cupboard and there were a couple of other ceiling height sockets that would have been a challenge to get to!). I don't think these things would be too much of an inconvenience to add and would have made the stay more pleasant. When the cleaners were doing the rooms in the morning, the doors were open and you could see significant differences in the quality of rooms - what you get may be pot luck. The doors and walls are very thin so it is a noisy hotel at night time - either due to the people outside or people walking around the laminated corridors or their rooms.

The main thing was that the hotel was central, the staff were friendly and helpful and the room was clean!

All this said, given what we paid and that we were only there for 4 nights and didn't spend a great deal of time in the room it was ok but much longer than this stay and we probably would have looked at other options.

We only stay here for 1 night and it had all that we need: great location, calm in the streets at night (we could sleep in a saturday night!), helpfulness, cleanliness. The hotel has a small garage where we could leave our car for 11 € for almost 24h. And believe me, that is a great thing in Salamanca! The room was enough, but we were unlucky to have only interior windows.
The breakfast was not bad, but i would like some homemade cake, instead of the supermarket cupcakes... In conclusion, it was a nice place because we went with a low budget and we have to remember this is a two star hotel. So , we get what we paid for. And we got the best price by their own site!

Room Tip: try to ask for a room with windows facing tht compañia street

Family- owned Emperatriz has 3 hotels in the city all in well- located areas. this is the original one situated between Plaza Mayor and Palacio Monterrey. From here, you can walk everywhere in the heritage site and the bar/restaurant almost next door in adjoining street serves good dinner and wine which the locals frequent . On key football match nights, the atmosphere is extremely convivial - since this is Castile, most people support Real Madrid....
The staff are very courteous, friendly , helpful and charming. Rooms though basic are generous in size, very clean and very good value . Beds are super-comfortable . The walls are very thin however so plumbing and exuberant Spanish conversation next door at 2-3am may give you the experience as if you are in the same room with them .
I went back for a college reunion after many years and would stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: Always ask for a room facing the courtyard if you want a quiet night - dinner starts at 1130pm in this town/city!
