Way too crowded at all times. Opt for many of the side streets whenever you get a chance. The variety of restaurants and cafes is much better and the quality of food and service as well. Nothing cosy or pleasing about Las Ramblas..only crowds.

A feast for the senses! From the street performers to the smells of restaurants and food vendors and the sounds of the city. Simply put "Lots of fun!". Just know going in much of the time this place is crowded and bustling.

To the uninitiated it's both easy and hard to describe... the only way is to see it and experience the whole thang... people, performers, buildings, restaurants, museums and who knows what else...if you're lucky you will get the weather we had... superb!

Las Ramblas is perhaps the most famous street in Barcelona, but it is consequently also the most overcrowded and touristy one. Architecturally not really important, this street mainly features cafes, restaurants and shops which are almost solely frequented by tourists, and thus offer often mediocre products for a lot of money. The centre of the street is lined with illegal street vendors, selling cheap souvenirs and fake designer wear (sunglasses, bags, wallets, etc.) to tourists. Due to its popularity with tourists, this is also one of the main areas in Barcelona for pickpocketing, so beware of thieves. In the evening there are also a number of gentlemen trying to lure tourists into 'girls bars' and similar establishments, or handing out advertisements for clubs and bars. If you're simply interested in walking down a nice street in the city centre, I'd suggest to opt for the Passeig de Gracia instead: it's less overcrowded, the architecture is far nicer, the neighbourhood is better, there are better and higher quality shops and cafes/ restaurants, and you get far lest molested by street vendors and/or promoters.
