Attended a conference and stayed on over the weekend. In the Marina District, the Hotel Arts has great proximity to the beach, and if you like walking, about 20-30 mins from Las Ramblas and the Old City. Taxis are plentiful, so no transportation issues.

Yes, the hotel lobby is on the first floor (not the ground floor) but hardly an inconvenience. Staff were all SUPER friendly and helpful. I arrived at the hotel about 10 am (overnight from US) and the hotel was able to check me in immediately. Much appreciated! Every time I asked the concierge a question, I ended up with a pocket map of Barcelona.

I had a king bed room, with an Eastern exposure. From the window, I could see the city (to the left), the Marina (straight ahead) and the Mediterranean off to the right. Room was very large by European standards. The bathroom was very nice, separate tub and shower. The shower was more of a mini-steam room complete with a bench to sit on. Water pressure and temperature was awesome.

We ate a couple of times in the hotel restaurant/coffee shop adjacent to the lobby and the bar. Never busy, the food was prepared well and the chef had some interesting versions of classic dishes. One that stands out was tiramisu. Instead of the classic construction, this one was "unassembled". Lady finger cookies were provided along with a small bowl of the prepared marscapone cheese mixture, and a separate small dish of cold espresso. Idea was you take the cookie and dunk it into the cheese and coffee. Quite good and I liked the novel presentation.

Some random notes:

Hotel dining is expensive. With the marina right next door, you have many other choices, although pickings are slim at breakfast (no, things really do not open before Noon in Barcelona!).

Did not try the in-room Wifi, due to price.

Watch out for the pod coffee machine in the room. My bad, I did not realize they were charging 4 Euros per pod until checkout. I am a coffee drinker, so OUCH.

If you like the hop on, hop off bus tour thing, the bus stops next door to the hotel (east about 50 feet on Avinguda Litoral).

The "Gran Casino Barcelona" is right next door. There is an entrance to the Casino right at the Hotel driveway/entrance. Not Vegas by any means, but a nice, clean casino. Some slots, video roulette and blackjack, video poker. Downstairs are the table games; you need a "ticket" to go downstairs which you get when you enter the casino (need passport to get in). Mostly roulette, some variation on 3 card poker (forget the name) and some blackjack. One corner of the floor is the "poker room". One thing to note, unlike Vegas, NO SMOKING in the casino. Yay!

My wife and I had a great weekend at Hotel Arts. The check in and concierge were great. The room had a few problems with lights and tv but they were addressed.
The location was great for walks on the beach and in to town.

Everything about the Hotel Arts is sublime. From the way you are greeted when getting out of the taxi, the seamless transfer of bags to your room, check in, check out and everything in between! Corner seaview rooms are spacious and the views are magnificent! Room 1201 has panoramic views of the beach and the marina - as I imagine do all the **01 rooms, being on the same corner of the building. Decor is elegant, bed linen truly luxurious. Bedside panels control all the lighting and operate the blinds. My bathroom had a large deep bath, wetroom and separate wc plus twin basins and an abundance of towels - excellent. Location is right on the beach and within a five minute stroll of the Marins and its abundance of bars and great eating places.
Any negatives? Take care that you don't inadvertantly rack up a hefty room bill - we all expect to pay for the minibar but here everything is extra much of which is on the dresser outside the mini bar including the mineral water at 7€ for the small bottle and 9€ for the large bottle and the coffee machine (great to have nespresso machine and pods) but they are 4€ a shot and it is only when you look in the in toom information that you realise that they are not complimentary.

Room Tip: Corner sea view rooms are larger and have great views

Fantastic location in a fantastic town. The hotel is lavish, rooms are well-appointed. My room had two comfortable queen beds, 3 easy chairs, small table, a desk, floor lamp, safe, magazines in a rack, flat screen TV, Bose sound system (CD/Radio), capsule coffee maker, mini-bar (extremely expensive) walk-in shower with massage jets and rainfall, 2 sinks, bathtub. Nice view to the beach. Many restaurants nearby. Friendly staff, courteous service, and everyone speaks English. The restaurant and bar are also excellent, but pricey. Breakfast was good with real scrambled eggs. Internet is expensive (why is this not free at these rack rates?) and they will charge you for each device which connects, so watch out for that.

Good connections to public transport. There is a casino next door; beware as there was a mugging in broad daylight when I was there. Taxis are always on hand. Good concierge service.

If you can afford it, there's no better location in my opinion.

Room Tip: Rooms with a view to the Mediterranean are of course the best.
