Hotel Ginebra is located on Catalunya Plaza. Our room had a balcony that overlooked the plaza and we enjoyed the view along with all of the activity close by. We were greeted by Keke and Julio when we arrived. Julio showed us to our room and then came back by with complimentary Cava and chocolates and showed us a map with different things to see and how to get there. It's an easy walk to the Metro for transportation of any kind. The room was comfortable and they also serve a great breakfast. The staff was easy to understand and very accommodating. They offered us free storage of our luggage after we checked out and also use of the living room to relax in before we caught our train. Would definitely recommend and stay again!

Room Tip: Be sure to request or book a room with a view or balcony

We stayed in a family room for 4 adults and had plenty of space. The room was big and airy with large windows letting in loads of light. the room itself was spotlessly clean and really nicely decorated in a quirky, boutique style. The windows opened onto the street below which was busy but not overly noisy with the windows shut however its worth opening them to enjoy the full view of Placa Catalunya.
Beds were comfy and aircon was superb - we really needed this as we happened to be there during a mini heatwave! A mini fridge helps to keep beers / wine / water etc cold too.
Finally a mention for the staff - from reception to cleaning staff everyone was friendly and couldn't do enough to help. We arrived early and our room wasn't ready but we were able to leave luggage in a safe area and go for a drink up the road and it was ready before the published time which was a bonus.
Location is perfect right on Placa Catalunya and is walking distance to many tourist spots (Ramblas, Casa Botilla, Gothic Quarter etc) as well as the airport buses, tourist buses and metro. Would definitely recommend.

Found myself in the smallest hotel room ever. Since I was there to see Barcelona, not the hotel, it was OK. If you want a room with a view, ask before you book. Next time I will. Quirky, in a good way. Location is fantastic. Access to taxis, tour buses, public transportation, and restaurants galore. Better than being on Las Ramblas itself. Microfridge, A/C, TV in room plus common laundry and computer access. Wi-Fi access was erratic on my phone and Kindle. Electric adapters available for a fee. Breakfast is €8,90. Starbucks is my go-to, and there was one a half block away, so skipped breakfast. Better Wi-Fi too. If you must have the conventional hotel experience, look elsewhere. Want something different but not a hostel? Give them a try. English-speaking, generally friendly. Hector is great!

Room Tip: Ask in advance for a room facing Placa Catalyuna.

The Hotel Ginebra is on the giant main square downtown. It's right on the border between the upscale Rambla de Catalunya and the noisy, crowded, seedy Las Ramblas area. The hotel is on two floors of a commercial building. From the street, look for the Hotel Ginebra sign in the window several stories up. When you get to the building, press the Hotel Ginebra button on the panel of buzzer buttons and wait for the door to unlock. Make sure the staff know when you're checking in so there will be someone there to buzz you in. Once you're in the lobby, the elevator is at the back on the left. There is a label for the hotel on the elevator panel so you'll know which button to push. Our room was counted as being on the first floor despite it being two flights of stairs up. The check in staff were pleasant and informative. Our room was pretty basic, but spacious enough for us. There was no street noise at all thanks to a pair of wooden doors on the window as well as a pair of more modern glass doors. Unfortunately, noise came from elsewhere in the building though it didn't disturb our sleep. We were very pleased that the bus to the airport was a one minute walk across the square. Overall, it suited our needs but I prefer places a little nicer.

Hello Marcia B,

It was lovely to meet you and thank you for the comment. Only one thing to add, namely that there is a wide variety of rooms.
We would like you to come back and see some of the more upmarket roomtypes, see you how like those :=)

best regards
Hector
