This is one of the oldest streets in medieval La Ribera. Walking along the narrow alley is the best way to experience its historic atmosphere.

This carrer has extremely much to offer. Both the buildings and the atmosphere in itself. But also the museums, especially the Picasso museum, the cafes, especially the El Xampanyet and the shops

During our most recent stay in Barcelona, we had been to visit Basilica de Santa Maria del Mar. After leaving the church we took our first walk along Carrer Montcada. This long narrow street dating back to the Medieval Period, is home to a number of buildings featuring some classic and unique architecture.
Among other significant buildings located here are the Picasso Museum, Palau de Dalmases and the Capella d’en Marcús.
We were surprised by how gracious this significant street is and we were happy that we had finally taken a stroll along it.
Well worth a visit!

This narrow pedestrian only street is a nice walk into history. It is filled with photo opportunities and it leads to other areas that contain other interesting things to see - churches etc.

People who live here are proud of their history and it shows in how they decorate their balconies for the people walking below, the upkeep of their buildings and their love of live music (you will often see talented buskers playing beautifully in this area).

A pretty medieval street. Connects the Santa Maria del Mar church with the Picasso Museum. There are many restaurants and cafes.
