Found this hotel on Expedia and booked it at £400 per night in August. I think for this price the hotel is really really super expensive but other hotels in Barcelona at the time were expensive too (but probably better quality than this one).
The check-in staff was amazing. We started our journey early and arrived at 9:30am. Roger was really kind to upgrade us to a junior suite as our room wasn't ready. I didn't expect to check-in until 3pm but I have young kids and they were tired.
The area is quiet and a little run down. Not much to do or to walk around to.
The room service menu was pretty mediocre. Not much appetising on offer.
Breakfast the next morning was minimal. Standard meats and cheese on offer in the cold section but the hot breakfast was minimal (3 or 4 items on offer) and none of it looked or tasted great.
The indoor pool is nice enough when quiet. As it is quite small, if the hotel is busy it would be too overcrowded. I think 5 people can fit in comfortably and relax / swim without getting in each others way. The spa showers and saunas are nice - a good touch. It's a shame you only get 1 hour free per stay to use the spa. Why should I pay to use the spa and swimming pool when I am paying £400 per night for the room?!??!
The biggest issue I had was the rooms with balconies have major ant problems. We were itching all evening and when we looked on the floor there were tons of ants! Called reception and they sent a cleaner and she cleaned up the ants and just kept trying to justify the ants wont bite. That's all very well, but I just don't want them in my room! A complete ant infestation. She then blamed us for leaving the door open and eating in our room. Why give a balcony and offer room service then without warning??
The hotel did move us to another room in the middle of the night which was OK but with a young family with kids sleeping, moving at 11pm at night is a real inconvenience although was much needed as the ants had taken over our previous room.
Check out was a poor experience. The lady who checked us out was moody and pretty rude. She knew we had an ant infestation in our room but there was no apology at all - just a nod of acknowledgement. So for you in particular - this review is a 1 star rating. Learn how to treat your guests and provide good customer service.
