Gibraltar's Top of the Rock Cable Car Ticket
Reviewed 2 weeks ago via mobile

We went there as a day trip from Estepona, Spain. We parked next to the border in the underground parking in La Linea and walked across the border. Not sure what to do we were approached by one of the taxi tour operators who offered to give us a tour of the sites up to the top of the Rock approx. two hours for @30/person (there were 4 in our group). It was the smartest move we could have made. We saw all the sites going up to the top of the rock and then he dropped us off in the middle of the city where we shopped and had lunch before walking back to our car. Visiting Gibraltar once is worth it to see the historical military tunnels, St. Michael’s Cave, the monkeys and the views. Also to see how every inch of space has been developed or used. The “duty free” shopping struck us as a joke. There were no deals that we found. This is one of those “been there, done that” kind of places. But a taxi tour to the top is highly recommended if you go.

Great experience in general - cable car ride to the up (it is highly recommended to pre-purchase the tickets online, the price is the same but then you do not have to wait in the huge queue), fun with the monkeys, walking, suspension bridge and skywalk for the ones without fear of heights, great views to the sea...we spent there a great couple of hours. To go to Gibraltar was not an issue at all, just leave the car in the spanish side (there are many parking opportunities close to the border, e.g. under €10/day). Crossing the border for the pedestrians is really fast and easy.

We caught the cable car up the rock to see the monkeys, the views were amazing once we'd reached the top. The nature reserve is full the the brim with flowers & monkeys. You can spend as little or as much time as you like on the rock & it's well worth a trip up even if it's just for the views. Take a drink with you as the only places to buy one arm pricey.

Great shots from the top. Don't take the cable car down. It's a rip-off (12.5 Gibraltar Pounds - ONE WAY) If you have time, take the stairs. Wild monkeys make for interesting shots.
