This place is close to the El Rastro market and we ate here after browsing the market. It's a simple and basic setup, there's a handful of tables (but not enough chairs). You go up to the counter and order.

The main attraction is the paella (that they have 3 varieties to choose from), which is served in a styrofoam box that you take away to your table. A portion costs between €5-6. It's a medium size serve, large eaters will probably need two portions. The paella was very good, so was the cafe con leche. The croquettes were also good.

We visited AlliOli in late November and even then the place gets quickly full after 13:30. The restaurant isn't super fancy, but it's clean and full of light. Located in the near of a metro station it's easy to get to, but far from tourist routes so it's very quiet.

There are always some rice dishes to choose from and there's a menu. We've had the black rice and paella and both were absolutely great and for a very decent price. Moreover I suggest trying the Valencian beer - Turia, one of the best i've had in a very long time! As the other reviews said the service is very friendly and quick, the owner also speaks far better english than he says definitely worth visiting.

Great place to grab a good cup of coffee and a croissant when exploring the El Rastro market on Sunday morning.

I was recommended Allioli by a Valencian colleague, so I knew I had to try it. It superseded my expectations. The starters were amazing, humous, tapenade, peppers, bravas...all light and tasty. They really set up the appetite for the oncoming paella. It is so hard to find a proper paella once you've left Valencia - or so they say: whether it be the water, the salt, the air...it's very much the same idea as Guinness not tasting right outside Ireland. But here we realised that legend is false, and in Madrid authentic rustic - quality - paella can be found. If anyone is visiting the city you should bring them here. It is a true slice of Spain and you will not be disappointed.

Unfortunately, I can't really judge the paella well as I was quite sick that day and had no sense of taste... but the service was so friendly and nice that I will surely come back at some point to try the paella once more!

Very reasonably priced too.
