We came here on our first day in Madrid as it was close to our apartment and bustling with happy, local diners. It was great to see everyone, especially the multi-generational families sitting down for lunch, the grandmas and parents sipping beer and wine while well loved children hopped onto laps. Alas, the food did not live up to the atmosphere. We had the menú del día. I don't remember the first course, but the main course was some of the worst pork I've ever had, sliced thin and braised but very tough and chewy. Dessert was a perfectly fine tiramisu. The meal, which also included a glass of wine or beer, was very reasonable at 10.5 euros, but lower cost does not excuse poorly cooked food.
