We had a wonderful evening at the Cooking Point! An evening class creating classic tapas dishes with Elisa was the highlight of our trip. Elisa gave us an excellent explanation of the origin and background of tapas and the culture of tapas bars that exist today. Elisa was warm and engaging, knowledgeable, and professional. The kitchen/classroom was impeccably neat and well organized. Starting off the evening concocting a batch of sangria was a marvelous way to begin, especially when sugar, cinnamon, red wine and vermouth were involved! Pitchers of sangria are always a good idea!! My family and I created classic dishes such as Gambas al ajillo (garlic shrimp,) Tortilla de patatas (Spanish potato omelette,) Chorizo a la sidra (chorizo in cider,) Patatas bravas (potatoes with brava sauce,) Pan con tomate (tomato bread) and Crema catalana (Catalan creme.) Our instructor Elisa explained the cooking methods and recipe steps extremely well,
so much so, that we are confident that we can return to New York and create some of these marvelous dishes at home. After a really fun evening of preparing the meal where we really were involved in the preparation and cooking process, we sat down to a sumptuous dinner. We had a terrific time and highly recommend Cooking Point to all.
