My mother and I stayed here for 2 nights, and didn't love this hotel, but there was nothing drastically wrong. It was clean and reasonably well-appointed, but fell apart at the seams. The safe didn't work - and no one arrived to fix it - the front desk staff upon our arrival were not particularly welcoming, and the bathroom, while clearly filled with new things, had a ridiculously fancy shower head - out of which almost no water came (and it sprayed in every direction, soaking the entire bathroom). And, surprisingly to us, the bathroom door was just a glass door that swung both ways! So no privacy. Breakfast was so-so, and was an extra charge.

We had a room in the back of the hotel, with no view (except of other windows, where across the way other guests kept leaving their curtains open and clothes off...). It seems there are cute front rooms with little Juliet balconies, that might be nicer.

The location is great, however - we were right at a Metro stop (Gran Via) and walking distance to Plaza del Sol, and a bit further to Plaza Santa Ana. That was a big plus as we tried to find our way around the city - and for returning midday for siesta. Plus wifi was included, which I appreciated as well. Housekeeping stopped by and were up to par as well.

NOTE: If you are sensitive to scents, you will have problems in this hotel. I'm not, but I did notice that there are air deodorizers EVERYWHERE in the building, and it seems as if they even scent the air coming out of the air ducts!

Overall: spartan digs, nothing luxurious that would make you want to hang at the hotel, but it got the job done and location is great.

Room Tip: Ask for the front rooms, I'd guess they're nicer and have better windows (though still not an interesting view).

If you have got a car don't choose this hotel, it's too near the centre: 22 € per day garage fee. The room was smelling both days (maybe because of the carpet), a very bad smell. Water spills out from the shower in the bathroom. Receptionists aren't so nice as well.
It wasn't a double bed but two twin beds.

The hotel seems to be a hotel of horrors according to some reviewers...all of it unsubstantiated claims. The location is fantastic, two minutes walk from Gran Via Metro station.

Yes there's graffiti on the exterior walls but the hotel can't control that.

Breakfast was ample and delicious, the staff are extremely helpful and pleasant and the rooms are adequate, clean and with luxury bathrooms...can't complain!

It's clean, but room and bathroom both need renovation. Rooms themselves are medium sized, the street it stands on is rather narrow and drab, but location is excellent - in the very heart of city center. If you are going to walk Madrid all the day and some part of the night - it's great. WIFI is free.

It cannot be denied that the location is about the best in Madrid; Close to Plaza Mayor, The Real Plaza, The Opera house if you`re looking to treat yourself, and walks in and around Madrid, and if you`re looking for a no frills hotel then this could be the place for you.

If you like just a bit of luxury keep looking unless you can insist upon room 407 or 107. 407 is probably the best room in the hotel and is offered to you as a placator if you have had the misfortune to be given room 401 for a night. We did and didn`t even unpack our
clothes as we were leaving if they couldn`t give us anything better.

The breakfast room is a tiny room in the basement, it serves it`s purpose but if you fancy a dining room, then hereagain, this place is not for you.

The young ladies at the reception desk really do try to accommodate you and they cannot be faulted - they are doing the best they can with the limited resources in the hotel.

I booked this hotel after looking for several hours on the internet, and reading so many reviews that it was so late and I just thought "Oh just get it done" - I wish I had stayed up a bit longer and found somewhere a bit smarter but eventually we made the most of it.

Bear this in mind, along with all the other comments, - there were a lot more that we had looked at and this was quite expensive by comparison to some - i.e. we paid £520 Euros for 4 nights, with nothing from the mini bar because there wasn`t one in the first room that we had, and neither was there one single drawer in any of the 3 rooms that we were eventually given on various nights. Room 107 is a family room on the front with a king sized bed and bunk beds folded back into the wall. Room 407 is a king sized bed with a tiny balcony on the front. Insist on it or nothing !
It has the only guest lounge in the world where there are three bicycles standing there, for what, I asked myself, and the business centre is just off that room, with one easy chair and two computers.
