The food has nothing special, but service and quality according to price was great. The place is big and comfortable, can get a bit crowd, but is worth a visit in case you are in a rush.

We first dined at La Gloria in 2015 on the recommendation of the host at our hotel in Plaza El Centro in Madrid. We went back for all 3 evenings. Last week we returned to Madrid, same hotel, and were happy to sup again at La Gloria. The food and the hospitality were again excellent. Bonus, we were able to dine earlier than the customary 8PM or later. La Gloria is our go-to spot for dining. My personal fave is baby octopus, but haven't been disappointed on any visit.

I give this restauran 2 because of the nice waiter. it was our first restaurant in Madrid, we were just walking and saw a ver nice place (it looks good on the outside). FIRST MISTAKE. Since we did not know how the food was at the place, we order some essentials from Spanish kitchen that a restaurant in the middle of Madrid just can't go wrong. SECOND MISTAKE we ordered jamón ibérico which it was in a plate full of olive oil which look more like a oil soup with some jam. If you wonder how to ruin something as easy as cutting a jam and put it in a plate, this is the right recipe. Next plate was Salmorejo taste like tomato from a can. Last but not least croquetas de jamón. Come on ! Texture was the same as a McDonald's hash brown. Can't tell about the rest of the menu but if you have a Spanish restaurant and can't manage this three dishes something is wrong. But again our waiter was very nice.

I had a lovely lunch here. Excellent atmosphere, great menu, slightly surly service. The salad with marinated vegetables and ham was excellent, as was the cod. Recommended.

We'd read and also been told that this place didn't take reservations and that you had to simply turn up and be prepared to queue/wait; however, since there were six of us to seat, one of whom needed a gluten-free menu - we gave booking a try - and succeeded. The menu was fabulous - great choice, imaginative dishes and fantastic prices - the wine list was similarly good value - we had a delicious white Rioja for a snip! The food was amazing - great quality and choice. We went here on a recommendation and wouldn't hesitate to pass that recommendation on.
