Owner description: BIOPARC VALENCIA is a unique zoo. Its design employs the “zooimmersion” concept, in which visitors are surrounded by meticulous recreations of the natural habitats being presented. Social animals that live together in groups are displayed, as well as groups of different species that coexist in the same habitats. Predatory species are integrated into the visual space, but are separated from other species by barriers invisible to the eye of the visitor, ensuring the safety of both the animals and the people. The animals, vegetation and landscape provide opportunities for discovering the complexity of natural ecosystems.

Great for kids, good ideas, animals are all visible. Limurs were fantastic! Don't go on holidays or weekends as was to many people. A little bit expensive...

So I'm in love with this zoo. Tried quite a few in the world and this is in the top. Even do there aren't that many animals, they have so much space and you can really see them in a fantastic environment. Very cool.

Divided into habitats- rainforest, savannahs, etc.- the animals live in open environments, roaming beautifully landscaped grounds. The cafe is divided from the giraffes by a narrow moat, allowing people literally a front row seat to observe the wildlife. Lions perch on rocks observing game that they are unable to capture due to unseen barriers separating animals. The ingenuity of design is part of the allure of this special environment. Lemurs run freely in the Madagascar exhibit where people walk along a path overseen by these small friendly creatures. Zebras, crocs, rhinos, various antelope, water buffalo, elephants all have their special protected spaces.

An old river bed, diverted due to flooding has been made into a wonderful green space. Very popular for runners, cyclists and walkers, families ect. A great way to escape the summer heat under the trees. From the centre of the city to the aquarium and science museum takes around a 45/60 minutes stroll. There is a cafe for a stopover too.

I visited the Bioparc early in the morning while it was nice and quiet. It is cleverly laid out to give the impression that the animals live in open spacious surroundings with not many fences.

There is an education programme for kids, and it was good to see them really engaged with learning about the animals. There was an African drumming workshop while I was there too that sounded great.

I really wanted to see the lemurs and was surprised that you could walk openly in their enclosure. I have to agree with another reviewer that the animals all seemed to come across as a little docile - maybe it was the early morning, but I really felt for the gorilla who just looked so sad.

Having been lucky enough to visit the Serengeti in Tanzania and see a lot these animals in the wild, I am torn about seeing them in this environment, but I do understand that many people would never get the chance to see these animals if such places didn't exist.

It is undoubtably a good day out of families and if you can come away learning just one or two things, then it can only be a good thing.
