At the entrance you will be asked to pay €7 but it includes an audio guide that definitely maximises the whole experience. There are numerous gems inside this cathedral. Definitely a must visit

The cathedral supposedly houses the Holy Grail, but whether or not you believe that, it is worth visiting anyway, mainly for its superb ceilings, and, surprisingly, the somewhat creepy preserved hand of Sant Vicent, behind the alter. You can also climb the bell tower for a view of the city.

The Cathedral is very much worth a visit while in Valencia, and for the €8 entrance fee you do get to see the cathedral and an interesting museum - and of course the holy grail. It's a very peaceful place away from the hustle and bustle of the city, so plan your visit for when you are feeling like you need a break. Take your time to appreciate your surroundings. It's worth reading about the history before you arrive, or paying a little extra for the audio guide to fully understand this special place.

We booked a day tour of Valencia with our Saga rep from our hotel in Calpe.
First time to the Costa Blanca.
Interesting day tour - visited the market, the trading house, the flower statue of the Virgin, the cathedral and the science city.
We had head phones so we could hear what our guide was saying.
Facts - the painted and golden ceiling about the altar cost 3000 duckers, while Michelangelo was only paid 2000 for the Sistine chapel.
There are 2 Goya paintings in one of the chapels. A king leaving his family and turning to the priesthood with his family crying.
There were not big crowds.
We saw several pregnant ladies doing circuits of the interior- apparently it is lucky to walk 9 times around the interior to have a successful delivery.

This cathedral holds a lot of character - beautiful! I could even smell the wood - just made me at peace. Worth the visit!
