We stayed at the Bristol as part of a tour group. Rooms clean and comfortable overlooking the beautiful Bay of Naples. There is a 10 minute walk into the town. Staff are very helpful. Recommend this hotel with a swimming pool and rooftop bar in the summer season which starts April 1.

Stayed: March 2018, travelled with friends

Room:
Our room was 605 and had a beautiful view and balcony over Sorrento and it's picturesque fishermans port, Marina Grande.

Location:
An excellent location, slightly away from the hustle and bustle, so very quiet and peaceful. It took ten minutes to walk into the main square.

Amenities:
This hotel has a lot of amenities.
INTERNET is really fast here. A big bonus for us.
We used the gym quite a bit. I would have preferred if it had a better view from the treadmill. There is a jacuzzi & steam room for E10. The pool is free, very big, great views. Opens April 1st, very cold water then but warms up.
There is a lovely terraced garden behind the hotel, table tennis, children's play area, large terrace with beds.
There is a computer for use, and a small library.

Restaurants:
The best thing about the hotel is the restaurants and restaurant staff. Sergio, Carmine, Luca, and ALL of the other EXCELLENT RESTAURANT STAFF really made our stay extra pleasant. They work swiftly, always with a smile.
The food is GREAT.
The breakfasts were fabulous, with a broad variety, fresh fruit, cakes, and eggs and bacon. Lots of coffee.
The dinners were delicious. I always went for the Chef Recommendation and was never disappointed.
We really loved the meals there and didn't miss one.
The view from the restaurant is really one of the best in Sorrento, great for morning light, and sunset too.

Bar:
We loved the bar too. The locale wine was good and they also serve non-alcoholic beer. They give you snacks with your drinks.

Interior Design:
The hotel has an 80's interior and is SUPER COOL. The floors are marble throughout. They have beautiful persian rugs along the corridors. The chandeliers are really special. Many large ornate ones in the restaurants and lobby. There is a lot of artwork.

Cleanliness:
100%

Reception Staff:
Friendly, helpful, informative, knowledgeable.

Room Tip: Higher floors will have better view. We were on level 6 and liked it. Level 5 has wider balconies.

We stayed for a week in March. The hotel has the look and feel of a high-end luxury hotel but the prices were only mid range. Everything is done in marble and ceramic with oriental carpets and runners in the halls. Our room was a huge suite with spacious bedroom, large bathroom with both tub and shower, plus a huge sitting room complete with a panoramic window wall overlooking the bay of Naples. Our balcony was large enough to accommodate a cocktail party with twenty guests. The view is incredible! Overlooking the small fishing harbor below us and a sweeping view of the bay with Mt. Vesuvius directly across. Service was outstanding. The restaurant is quite good. They have valet parking. It is only a ten minute walk to the heart of downtown Sorrento.

The Good: Phenomenal view from large balconies. Friendly wait staff who were very courteous; professional desk staff; they were helpful when you ask them. The location is superb. Easy 10 min walk to town, but in a nice quiet area. The room was large and clean. The bathroom was large enough, although the amenities were not luxurious and the tub was very narrow. The dinner in the restaurant was good. We actually ate dinner twice, and the items were automatically charged to our room. Upon check out, I did not check the bill for each item as upon a quick glance down, it all looked like food we had ordered; upon closer inspection on our train later, I found that I was charged for one item we had 2 times; and for a different entree we didn't order. We were over charged approximately 25 euros; I'm sure it was an innocent mistake as the wait staff just writes your room number on your ticket. You don't sign or anything; and those mistakes can easily happen. It was not the fault of the front desk staff either as they present the bill to you with each item itemized. It's just very old fashioned method to not be electronic entry or have you sign at the end of your meal verifying your items; so, I would encourage you to closely look at each item and also closely look at the quantity of items on your final bill at check out. For example, we had the ravioli, but only once. It was only one line item on the bill, but when you followed it across the number of items charged was (2) with a total charge for 2 raviolis. It is, however, my own fault for not going line item by line item on the bill, following each item across the bill and spending an extra 5 minutes at the front desk doing so before we left. With a family of 4 or 5 eating there a couple of times, I would think it would be very easy to be over (or under) charged.

The Bad: The bed was hard as a rock. The pillows were hard and flat. The linens were not very good quality. The temperature was hard to control and it was very hot in the room; we slept with the sliding door open to get the room to cool off. The towels were old, thin and rough, like sandpaper. There were no complimentary robes in the room. Also, even though we stayed 5 nights, we only had one day of free coffee/tea in the room. After that, you had to pay 1 euro per pod or tea bag. In 8 years of traveling to Europe, I've never been charged for a coffee pod/tea bag in the room in any hotel I have stayed in. Just go to the dining room and order coffee for breakfast. The breakfast buffet was very uninspired. The meats and cheeses appeared to be out of grocery store packs; the breads were not bakery fresh like you usually get in European hotels. Only the fruit was good quality. The wait staff are very accommodating and the view from the dining room is spectacular; however, the cooked to order items were too salty and we didn't order any after the first day.

Overall: if view, location and room size are important to you, this is a great hotel. If comfort of bed, linens, amenities, towels, breakfast selections and room temperature are most important to you, I would look for another accommodation in Sorrento.
