Wow, did we love this place. After a busy month touring Italy, it was like an oasis. It is a gorgeous, character filled property right in the center of Sorrento and within easy walking distance of the railway station. The pool area is particularly gorgeous, surrounded by lemon trees and overlooking the lush grotto of Sorrento which is slashed into the cliffs. The staff couldn't do enough to help us. The breakfasts deserve a big, gold star. Definitely the best place to stay that I saw.

Four senior citizens stayed at the Antiche Mura for 4 nights in September-October, 2011, and it was outstanding! The hotel has all the amenities one could hope for and is maintained in immaculate condition. The pool, the breakfast, the location (walking distance or 1 euro "Blue Bus" ride to the sea for transport to Capri and Amalfi towns) are all ideal. Most outstnding of all was the staff - professional, pleasant, helpful (we had a car problem which they helped us to solve). I cannot recommend this property highly enough.

This hotel was a definite highlight & made our stay even more wonderful in Sorrento.

First, they upgraded our room to a suite for our anniversary (we had booked a comfort room). The room overlooked the ravine/cliff - quite beautiful!

Second, the staff were amazing and helped us with a number of arrangements including a private tour of the Amalfi Coast with a great driver (Francesco). They also suggested several great restaurants & provided complimentary taxi service (especially helpful for the spots which were a bit out of the way).

Third, the grounds/amenities were lovely. Breakfast provided a HUGE variety of delicious items & the pool area was lovely to sit around (pool was very cold though!).

We would definitely come back to this hotel!

Room tip: Ask for the ravine/cliff view!

We felt the need to get away and recharge our batteries on a last minute trip. So glad we chose to come here. Superb friendly service, staff go out there way to ensure all is well. Beautiful pool area, charming and surrounded by lemon trees, quiet and secluded. Lovely place for lunch too. Sunbeds could do with being upgraded as a little worn looking however value for money could not complain. Would recommend here to people on a lower budget but looking for quality service in enchanting surroundings. We stayed in both Superior Room and Standard Room, worth opting for a Superior Room, airier and more light.

Room tip: Superior Room larger and lighter. However did spot some rooms close to pool area which may well be a good option though forgot to look inside.

Just back from four nights at the hotel in late September and I echo everyone's rave reveiws. Two examples of the amazing service; we booked two excursions with the hotel, a bus trip along the coast and a half day trip to Pompeii. When we arrived exhausted to find the next day bus trip would be nine hours long, my husband balked and I ended up going alone. The good news is the trip, run by Goldentours, was great. The better news is the hotel refunded my husband's fare! After I informed them a 7am that morning that he wouldn't be going! BTW the bus tours all leave from a parking lot about 3 blocks from the hotel; this turns out to be a good thing because you get a better seat on the bus. The tour to Pompeii was also outstanding; it came with a guide that provided us with headsets so we could find her amidst the mob scene and she didn't have to yell. Feel free to bring your own earbuds for better reception.

The other above and beyond was that the hotel left us a bottle of champagne but we don't drink it, just white or red wine. I mentioned it in passing and they replaced it with a bottle of red wine. Awww!

I agree with the posters who weren't thrilled with the view; most of the rooms overlook apartment buildings and a parking garage with the accompanying traffic noise. On the plus side, the balcony windows block out the noise completely and it was kind of interesting watching people trying to get into that garage at 5pm while we relaxed in our room drinking our wine.

A couple of rooms below the breakfast buffet which overlooked the ravine or rooms overlooking the pool (room 605?) if it's not summer and filled with families, might be worth asking for.

Location, service, cleanliness, best breakfast buffet of our trip, the ability to relax by the beautiful pool in the afternoon all made this place the highlight stay of our vacation.

Room tip: We were in 501, the top floor, with a view of the hills just beyond the parking garage and the apartment blocks ;). We found the roof area and it would be a cool place to call our own.
