I had very nice single room (clean, cozy) on the first floor of the round building, with two big windows, one overlooking the pool and other one to the sea. it was great to wake up like that!
The Hotel was not very busy at the time of my stay and was quiet and calming.
The staff was very nice and helpful.
The garden in the hotel yard was also great and nice to walk around.
Also, close access to the beach.

The first night of our stay in this hotel was a bit of a disaster because the shower flooded the bathroom; however, we spoke to the reception and were immediately reallocated a much nicer and larger room. The hotel is situated just on the outskirts of Gaeta and if you want to eat out, the nearest restaurants are about ten to fifteen minutes drive away, or you can take a bus which stops just outside the hotel entrance. We could not find anywhere within walking distance to eat, apart from the hotel restaurant which serves lunch and dinner in what looked like a very formal atmosphere, we did not eat there and every time we looked in, it was completely empty, perhaps because it was out of season. We did not see anywhere at the hotel where you could get a lunchtime snack; however, breakfast at the hotel is very good with plenty of choice. The hotel is kept very clean and the grounds and pool area are excellent. The rooms are well serviced with clean towels nearly every day and well stocked with toiletries. There is a small supermarket within walking distance. For the more energetic you can borrow a bike from reception, I do not think the hotel has a gym but the pool is excellent. The hotel gets much busier during the summer months and caters for large wedding parties which I understand go on well into the night. On our last day we checked out and then decided that we would have a cup of tea by the pool - big mistake! cost of 2 tea bags, hot water and milk 8 euros! I'm, glad we did not order champagne!

Room Tip: stayed in room 208 with pool views; the hotel was fairly empty when we were there but I'm not sure how quiet it would be in season

The grounds and setting are stunning, and you can imagine some of the elegant life of the Russian aristocrat that built the original villa in the early 1800s. The staff are quite pleasant and will go out of their way to help. One of the ladies at Reception managed to have a friend open her beauty shop on a Monday afternoon to accommodate my wife.

But the hotel has chosen a business model that courts meetings, banquets, private parties. While I don't fault them for their business plan, it isn't an ideal mix for independent travelers.

While the grounds are delightful, the rooms, if ours was an example, are somewhat austere, old fashioned and cramped. All in all, a hotel to consider in the area, but not ideal on all counts. When we arrived, both parking lots were full-with private parties/banquet business. Monday was a quieter day.

The lower rooms are your basic hotel room. Nothing fancy but very clean. The bathroom was OK but the shower cubicle in the corner would have to be the smallest shower I have ever seen. Honestly about 650mm Square. Drop the soap and you are battling to pick it up. Our friends had one of the upstairs rooms that was bigger for a few euros more, I would go for these rooms next time. The gardens and pool however are just beautiful. I am sitting by the pool now writing this review after taking a dip in the crystal clear water. Orange and lemon trees everywhere it is very scenic. The breakfast was good with a good selection of breads and pastries, eggs, ham, fruits and cereal's. Huge gardens and large car park. All behind a large fence. There are also some old relics to explore. All up we enjoyed our 2 night stay.

Beautiful hotel. Great setting, though a drive from nearest town. Lovely staff, interesting building. Very attractive room on two levels with a great view of the bay of Naples. Some of the furnishings were a little tired but also some beautiful furniture.

Room Tip: Don't book through tripadvisor as they mucked up my booking, then I was charged a hefty supplement by the hotel.
