Had a room with a veranda overlooking the road which was well maintained. Had access to wifi and thank goodness for the lifesaver aircon. The host was very friendly and very accommodating. It is right around the corner from the Vatican and there are lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance

We really enjoyed the family atmosphere of this B&B, the OUTSTANDING location and the rooms were nice, clean and appointed with everything we needed. The breakfast was simple and good: juice, coffee and pastry, but the owner does give you a choice of different breakfast options every evening. When you stay at Il Passetto you feel like you are in a special place because it is located in a building of other apartments not a "hotel", we liked this. The location is perfect -- right on Piazza del Risorgimento which is easy walking distance to the Vatican and just across the street from public transport to the rest of Rome. The owner was very helpful with directions and arranging dinner reservations for us. She also sent us an email with her phone number the day before our arrival in case we arrived after hours. We are returning to stay at Il Passetto again in the autumn. That's probably the best review I can give a place.

Less than 5 minutes walk from Vatican, couple block from the subway train-A line, surrounded by restaurants. Since we like to have a local food, there is a local restaurant just around call Bacio di Puglia also a bit further in Borgo Pio there is Pizzeria Rosticceria Vecchio Borgo. They both open till about 9pm, ready for to go food too.
Special thank to Maggie. She is really helpful with the information, update for breakfast, helping get a cab for us since we need to leave super early. Great job Maggie!

Our room at Il Passetto was tidy and compact. The draperies and bedspread are quite worn but clean. The building (and rooms within) is incredibly handy to the Vatican, so if that is on your list of sights, we would suggest a stay here. We should note that the guest house is on the 3rd floor with a small rickety elevator. The room had the necessary amenities and the check-in lady was lovely and helpful in looking up travel times/routes for us. This was our second last stay on an already two-week Italy adventure. We had a slight issue with our bathroom, the shower stall had a rather large leak which had been attempted and unsuccessfully mended with scotch tape. We requested more towels for this issue and were granted them. They where clean and fresh. The breakfast was simple but you can customize the beverages via the front desk and you receive a croissant. Honestly, being North Americans and from a French area, we were quite tired of looking at croissants for breakfast and would have rathered some cereal or fruit or something else which was a request we made and was granted. The square the building is located on is quite noise and traffic-filled as there is a market, and what seems to be a multiple-way bus stop. It is always active and there is a visible police presence - it is safe but very loud. There is a cafe and convenience store right below which came in handy. The B&B had internet issues which continued for two of the three nights we stayed there. That was a shame as one of our party got very ill and we had to make some expensive long-distance calls via cellular telephone re: health insurance and nearby hospitals. However, the owner was kind enough to offer to phone for medical assistance.

One note: If you are a young couple and starting off your trip in Italy - this may be the choice for you. If you are planning on backpacking or traveling for a lengthy period (where you may need to wash clothes in a sink - as we did) with a friend, we would suggest staying elsewhere. Just simply due to the size of the room and lack of ventilation. There is one window and a fan in the bathroom, however, the room can become and remain quite damp. Unfortunately, when we stayed, the cleaning people chose to shut the window to the room and close the doors to our vestibule where we hung our damp clothes - thereby, making our room a hot, muggy mess when we returned.

Room Tip: Request the room with the balcony - it is larger than the other rooms.

We stayed here for 5 days, the hotel is right next to the Vatican and you can walk everywhere from the hotel, the coliseum is about a 40 min walk. There's plenty of restaurants close to the hotel and they stay open pretty late. The room was ok, nice and clean, bed was comfortable and the window opened on to the street which was good to watch the world go by, it was loud with all the traffic but the windows shut all the noise out. The only negative was the shower, the water pressure was rubbish. The lady who owned the hotel was really nice, she was really helpful and knowledgeable. Breakfast was a hot drink and a croissant between 8-10am.
