We met our tour guide, Elaine, at the rear of the Colosseum. She was a great guide!

She told stories of Romulus and Remus as we ascended the hill and of early Rome. She explained the rape of the Sabine women and how they learned to care for the Romans and helped to abate a war between their countrymen and the Romans.

As we reached the top of the hill, she left us, also explaining what we were seeing in our view of the Roman Forum.

We got to tour the manor at the hilltop and tour the grounds. So much history to take in at a be time, while contemplating the lives of the early Romans! A magnificent experience!

We walked up to this place without any expectations of what we were about to see and what a view it is. Steeped in history over 2000 years old, its a must when in Rome.

The site is huge, expecially since it is combined with the foro romano. It is very interesting to see this one because there is enough left for you to see what is explained and how the buildings were used. there is also a small museum of the site for further informations, but I didn't get the time to visit it.

Combined with Roman forum, and the history behind it all is amazing. A small cafe would have been ideal.

Definitely worth walking from the Roman Forum up to the Pallantine Hill. The views from the top are great. Many photo opportunities. Take time to explore the whole area. There are so many bits to see. There are also free public toilets available!
