We were so looking forward to staying here. As a long-time supporter of Marriott in general and one that has repeatedly stayed at some of their finest hotels, this unfortunately was not one of them and they should seriously consider internally re-rating this hotel. We would have chosen another if it wasn't rated so high by them.
We really didn't find anything exceptional about the hotel from Rooms, to service, front desk, maid service, etc... except the restaurant, especially the main lobby bar of Flora Restaurant. Which is manned by extremely well trained professional barman. These guys are very special and know what they are doing. The tapas we had were also excellent!
I will also say the location was pretty good too.
Definitely skip the breakfast up stairs as it's a mob scene, that as much as the staff tries they cannot keep up with demand of almost everything. If it's a perk or free, given the option of points or breakfast, go with the points.
We even upgraded our room and when we finally got into it, it looked nothing like their website pictures and was far smaller than we had hoped.
I'm sorry, as I usually love Marriott and I'm a Gold Elite member, but this hotel really came up short repeatedly... unfortunately...

Dear William A,

Thank you very much for choosing the Rome Marriott Grand Hotel Flora for your recent visit in Rome and for taking you time to rate our property on Tripadvisor.
While we would like to reassure you that we are always delighted to welcome Marriott Reward Members within us, we understand that we have missed our chance to impress you with a perfect stay.
The historical building hosting the Marriott Flora boosts recently refurbished and peculiar rooms, that may have different caratheristics due to the structure of the building itself; however, please rest reassured that the comfort and the features described in our website are respected in full.
We are sorry you didn't enjoy the astonishing view of our roof terrace while having breakfast on the 7th floor and our wide selection of international and Italian food.
We hope you will give us another chance to reinstate your faith in our sevices, by welcoming you soon again in Rome. Thank you again for your loyalty to the brand!
Warm regards,

We visited Rome for the second time in September 2017 and specifically selected the Grand Flora because we had a lovely experience there when we stayed on points in 2006.....this time was mediocre. We were again on points and were given an ok room with no view. I found the staff to be friendly enough, but they were clearly less interested in us because we were on points. I find this curious because in order to stay on points, one has to stay at Marriott properties very regularly; in fact my husband has lifetime gold status so I would think this would afford us superior service.
The building is lovely, the location is a bit away from the crazy center of Rome on the lovely tree-lined Via Veneto, the rooms are very clean.

The hotel is large and clearly one that Marriott took over and renovated. The room was large and very comfortable. Staff was great and I guess because there is no Marriott Club in the hotel, Gold members get a free breakfast. The breakfast was your choice of a large buffet or order from the menu, which no one did since the selection was good.
Just know that there isn't a Marriott Club if you are used to that when you travel. Ahead of me in check in were two different parties who voice frustration that they did not have a Club.

The hotel is beautiful and in a great location; away from all the crowds. Yet close to everything. Our room had a great view overlooking the ancient Roman wall and a distant view of the Vatican.

The only reason I didn't give it an excellent review was the fact that it does not have a concierge lounge. However, I will be back.

Stayed here two nights on business. The location, right next to the park surrounding Villa Borghese and a 20 minute walk from Termini, is very good.

Checking in early on a Sunday morning, my room was available at 10am for no extra charge. Service was quite good, both at the front desk and in the room. My only qualm was the cost of the bar, which was quite high.

Overall, I'm not sure their is a more convenient, better located hotel for you to enjoy during your stay in Rome.
